Jun. 10th, 2014 03:04 pmThis morning, I saw my psychiatrist. I wanted to ask about her baby (she's been out on maternity leave), but I was afraid that might be inappropriate. We talked for about half an hour, just checking in. She wants me to push my boundaries and try taking the bus to various places around town.
I hesitate to do that because I know it will be stressful and will probably mean full body pain and less sleep. I'm pretty happy with the way my life is right now. The main thing I'd like to change if I could is my inability to drive. I'd like to at least have the option of ferrying Cordelia all over town for activities. If I could drive, we could sign her up for one of the Girl Scout day camps. That's simply not an option right now, and I know she'd enjoy it.
After the appointment was over, I walked to Totoro and had lunch. This time, I managed not to drip anything on myself, and that seldom happens. I had a salmon teriyaki bento and a Dr Pepper. The Dr Pepper was an indulgence that I probably shouldn't have had, but I enjoyed it, and it's not like I do this often. I have lunch out once every month or three.
I had to take the #2 bus home because I forgot to check, before I went out, what the detour route for the #1 bus is. A big chunk of the #1's route is supposed to be in the process of getting dug up right now, starting about a quarter mile further down Pontiac than where our stop is. They said there'd be a lane left open for local traffic, but I'm not sure the bus counts, and that doesn't take into account the fact that they're closing Dhu Varren between Pontiac and Nixon either right now or starting some time very soon. The Dhu Varren closure must allow for local traffic as it's a pretty significant stretch of road with at least one good sized subdivision off of it that has no other outlet, but I don't know in which direction. Hopefully it's from Pontiac toward Nixon, but who knows? Common sense very often isn't.
And I've just checked the AAATA website. There's no information about a detour on the #1 route. Maybe the construction hasn't started yet. It was scheduled for the beginning of June. More likely, the AAATA website simply hasn't yet been updated to reflect what's going on. That website is frustrating and not particularly easy to use.
