Jun. 15th, 2014 11:58 amYesterday afternoon, there was another planning meeting for the Girl Scouts camping trip. Cordelia attended but asked me not to. According to the troop leader who called the meeting, they got a lot accomplished. Cordelia still has to do the work of figuring out transportation, but that has to wait until she gets the phone list (which I'm not convinced exists yet).
In the evening, the troop leader invited the girls to return to build and light a fire in her yard. She has a metal fire holder that's raised up off the ground on legs. Under it, she has bricks and stones. She wants the girls to get some practice with fire before the camping trip because they're going to have to cook over a campfire. (She's bringing a camp stove, but we'll need the fire, too). Including the troop leader's daughter, there were four girls present.
Scott had bought fixings for smores, so I called him and asked him to bring them over. He did, and the kids roasted marshmallows. The marshmallows were strawberry flavored which I thought was a little weird, but nobody complained.
It was about 9:30 when that broke up, probably a bit later than that. Scott and I had promised to take Cordelia to Orange Leaf to celebrate fifth grade graduation and a good report card (plus we had a 20% off coupon that would expire today). I wasn't sure that we should go so late, but Scott pointed out that it wasn't a school night. We got to Orange Leaf about 10:00. I had cheese cake yogurt and a bit of blackberry Greek yogurt. They definitely seem to have gotten rid of the crushed Heath bars permanently. They have chopped Snickers instead which I can't have. I took some crushed Oreos in place of the Heath. That has a pleasant crunch even though I don't think it's as good as Heath.
This morning, Scott wanted to go out to breakfast. We stopped on the way to buy bagels, and by the time we got to Cafe Marie, there was a huge crowd waiting to be seated. We decided that we didn't want to wait and went to Big Boy instead. The food's not nearly as good, but there wasn't any wait. All three of us had the breakfast buffet. I had coffee because we'd been in too much of a hurry to get out of the house for me to make any. Regular coffee is too strong for me. I added two little containers of half and half and two packets of sugar, and it was still too strong and bitter. I drank it anyway, but I didn't enjoy it.
This afternoon, we go to Scott's sister's place for a family gathering. Most years, the guys go golfing before dinner, but Scott's father isn't up to that yet, so he and Scott aren't going. I'm not sure if our brother-in-law and his father went or not. There was no reason they shouldn't.
