Jun. 26th, 2014 12:19 pmToday is our twenty first anniversary. Looking back, the day of the wedding was pretty frustrating because I just wanted it to be over with so that we could get on with being married. Not that the wedding was awful. There are things about it I'd change if I could, but it wasn't dreadful, not even the fact that there wasn't any food I could eat at the reception (there was supposed to be. Wires got crossed) dimmed my joy in marrying Scott.
We got married in Scott's parents' church in Brighton. The reception was immediately after, in the church basement. I wanted the food served while we were having our pictures taken upstairs, but Scott's mother went behind my back and insisted that the caterer wait for me and Scott before serving food. Scott's parents were paying for the whole thing, so what she said went.
That evening, we had a party for our friends in a lounge in the Law Quad. My mother, being an alumna, could get that space for us, and it meant something to me because it was where my mother and step-father had gotten married. The terms of the rental were that there couldn't be any alcohol (I think it has to do with how few exits there are from the space even though it's on the first floor and all the large windows open), but nobody seemed to mind.
The next day, some friends ran a LARP they'd written just for us. There were twenty to thirty players, and they gave me a character who couldn't die because, every time I had played a LARP before, I'd died. I'm much better at writing and running LARPs than I am at playing in them. At any rate, we had a lot of fun.
We didn't go on a honeymoon because we really didn't have money for such a thing. I think we both took a couple of days off to finish moving all of our stuff into our new apartment, but I couldn't swear to it.

Well, my ex-husband resented it, but he turned out to be an alcoholic.
(I kept the LARP documentation for "The Undiscovered Country" until this spring, and then tried to scan it because I needed the shelf space.)

Date: 2014-06-28 02:45 pm (UTC)I was taking an MAOI, so eating was complicated. We were having a buffet with lunch meat, and I couldn't have lunch meat or any other preserved meat because MAOIs interact badly with I think it's tyramine which turns up as meat ages. The interaction can be lethal.
I had an idiosyncratic reaction to the medication that meant that I couldn't have fruit or raw veggies which were the other things on the buffet.
I could eat the bread, but it was unsatisfying.
