Yesterday afternoon, we went shopping. Cordelia and I went to Kohl's while Scott went on to Meijer's to get a few things. There's construction in that area, so we had to take a really roundabout route to get there and to get home again because part of Ann Arbor Saline Rd is closed completely.

Cordelia and I were looking for pants and shorts for her. We found about seven pairs of pants and jeggings (I really hope her school doesn't ban jeggings. They fit her much, much better than jeans. She refuses to wear jeans because of how badly they fit). None of the shorts were worth bothering with-- Cordelia rejected most of them as too short and the rest for being jeans. I also had her try on a couple of bras and bought seven of the one that fit. Cordelia was really embarrassed to be seen with bras. When she took them to the changing room, she bundled them up in several pairs of pants.

I spent more than $200 dollars, so I really hope she wears this stuff.

On our way home, we stopped at McDonald's. Scott got an ice cream cone, Cordelia got a strawberry milkshake, and I got a caramel frappe.

Scott experimented with making pizza on the grill last night. He used a pizza stone and a store bought, pre-cooked crust. We used margarine under the cheese and put on chicken and broccoli. The whole thing ended up a bit overdone and singed. Scott thinks he'll do better next time. He didn't know how long it would take to cook or how much heat was needed to warm the pizza stone.

Cordelia is back to sleeping in her room. She tried hard to convince us to let her stay in the living room another night or three. I think she likes being in the center of activity. She also apparently finds the camping pad very comfortable (which, I think, says something about the lack of comfort of her own mattress). I'm looking forward to having the living room back. With her bed spread out in the living room, I couldn't do my exercise programs.

OMG, first bra shopping. I remember how uncomfortable/mortifying that was. I hope Cordelia meets a kindly saleslady who will tell her how to check if the bra really fits, and why that's important.

It sounds like she's on the cusp of a difficult transition. I'll be thinking good things for her, and you as well. :)

Is the camping pad something that could be set up in her room in some way, or is there not enough space?

[livejournal.com profile] aradiva and I have given up on the AnnArbor-Saline Meijer for the duration of the road construction project. I spent about 20 minutes trying to get out of their parking lot about 3-4 weeks ago, late on a Friday afternoon. Ugh.

The Zeeb Road Meijer is only a little farther for us -- and we have to detour around the Jackson Road construction -- but that's where we are Meijer-ing for the summer. We're getting used to the different layout of that store.
