Jul. 17th, 2014 11:36 amCordelia has decided that she likes heavily sweetened chai. I've told her that different types of chai taste different, but since I've only currently got one kind, I'm not sure she believes me. I'm also not sure I should be letting her have caffeine. I generally don't let her have more than is in the green tea we get at Bubble Island, but I have to let her try it some time, and if it's early enough in the day, it shouldn't be a big deal.
Mark Oshiro of Mark Watches has finished Utena and started Farscape. He's also still doing Star Trek: the Original Series and Supernatural. I'm enjoying seeing him encounter Farscape for the first time. I think it will be interested for him to watch Farscape and Star Trek at the same time. (If you go over there, be very, very cautious about spoilers. Mark watches these things utterly unspoiled and wants to stay that way. There are also other people watching these shows for the first time along with Mark, and they, too, don't want to be spoiled. Use rot13 if you're posting anything that might even remotely be considered a spoiler. If in doubt, treat it as a spoiler.)
I need to make a rhubarb pie. I picked the rhubarb on Tuesday, and it isn't going to last much longer. It's just that Thursday is a bad day to bake. Our cleaning lady comes in the afternoon, and she's Muslim. I don't want strong food smells when she comes, not during Ramadan. It's too cruel. Maybe I can get it started while she's still here and only put it in the oven once she leaves.
We canceled last night's gaming session because Scott expected to have to go in to work at 3 a.m., but as it turned out, he didn't have to. We decided on a quiet night in rather than trying to uncancel. Scott definitely has to go in early tomorrow morning and may have to on Saturday. He's also likely to work all day on Sunday. We're trying to figure out when there will be time for cooking dinner (we have enough leftovers for tonight and tomorrow) and when we'll be able to go to the library. Scott wants to try to do the library on Saturday, but that's still during Art Fair, and traffic will be crazy. There will be no parking whatsoever. Scott thinks he can drop us off and orbit around while we pick up our holds. I don't think he'll like doing it, not in that traffic, but going in on Sunday likely won't work because of when he'll get home and when Cordelia has softball practice.
I may have to give up on mysteries for a while. I just can't seem to finish any of the ones I've brought home from the library. Even when the writing is engaging, I'm not very interested. I'm in the middle of a couple of mysteries right now, but I peeked at the end of one, and it involved a fridging. The other one is fine as far as it goes, but I feel like I'm reading it out of obligation, and that's no fun.
