the_rckThe weather for last night's softball game was beautiful. It was cool enough to be comfortable without quite getting cold. The sky was a bit overcast, so we didn't have to worry about the sun.
The two teams were pretty evenly matched. I think the other team won, but I'm not sure. It would have been relatively close. They got in seven innings because both teams were good at getting the outs necessary. (I think games only run seven innings, maximum, but usually, we hit the two hour maximum before we hit seven innings.)
Cordelia had a wonderful double play. She caught a fly ball while playing third and tagged the base to get that runner out (the rules dictate that, if a fly ball gets caught, runners have to return to the base where they were before the hit). The coach gave her a game ball after the game to congratulate her. Cordelia hit three times, getting tagged out twice at first. She also advanced once when she got hit by the ball on a pitch.
They now have Ingress for the iPhone, so Scott has signed up to play. He's not really sure what he's doing yet (we have friends who he can ask to help him out. He was careful to choose the same faction they're in), but there were two portals at the park where the softball game took place. I don't imagine Scott will get really into Ingress. He doesn't have the time or energy to travel to many portals. I think it will mainly be hitting portals quite close to wherever he needs to be anyway.
There wasn't work this weekend, so we have Scott for both days. This luck won't hold, though. He'll definitely be working the next time there's weekend work because it's his turn. Everybody else on his shift has done weekend work more recently than he has. I just hope he can get next Saturday off. There's a softball game then.
