Yesterday,
booniverse and her husband had their annual cookout party. We weren't sure we were going to be able to go because Scott's schedule is so uncertain, but as things worked out, we could.
dspitzle and his wife and daughter were there. The daughter isn't quite three months old, and this was our first chance to see her. She was fussy, so pretty much nobody got to hold her but her parents.
Scott had a brat and a turkey burger (
booniverse doesn't eat or serve beef, so Scott's safe at these cookouts). I had a turkey burger. Cordelia had cookies, chips and pie. She apparently didn't like the look of either the brats or the burgers even though she'll eat such things at other times.
Cordelia was very bored. She'd brought a couple of books, but she left them in the car, so they were out of easy reach. There was one other child her age there,
cherydactyl's younger daughter, but that girl plugged herself into her tablet and only emerged to complain about being bored herself. We ended up giving
cherydactyl's younger daughter a ride home when we left. Her father was at home, and she thought she'd be happier there.
We stopped at Whole Foods on the way home. Cordelia got a slice of pizza and a cookie. Scott and I got salads. Scott and I both felt that what we really needed was vegetation, and the cookout meal had been early enough in the day (around 4) that we knew we'd be hungry by bedtime. (Not to mention that I have some take with food medication that I need to take between 6 and 8.)
We spent the rest of the evening watching stuff from the DVR, both the Daily Show and the Colbert Report. Once that was done, we sent Cordelia off to shower. She argued with me about it, but, in the end, she went. Scott and I finished off the last DVD of season one of Teen Wolf (I'll say more about that when I log DVDs). Then Scott started watching the DVD of Chess in Concert. I probably won't count that as something I've watched because I only watched bits of it. Scott adores Chess. I don't think I've ever listened to it all the way through.
