Yesterday at noon, I went over to Cordelia's school to help with an inventory project. There's a room full of books, sorted by reading level, that teachers can draw on for reading assignments. The books are in bins with all the copies of each title rubber banded together. The idea was to get rid of the rubber bands because they decay and stick to the books. We put each set of books in a plastic bag and made an entry in a Google spreadsheet that included the reading level (represented by a letter), the title, whether the book is fiction or non-fiction, and how many copies there are.

At 12:45, I took a brief break to attend an event in the school's multipurpose room. The kids have been working on making things out of cardboard, mostly games. Cordelia and her friends made a two story doll house. I spent maybe ten minutes looking around before I headed back to the inventory. The number of people in that room was overwhelming. I really needed to get out of there.

We continued the inventory until about 1:30 when the other mother needed to leave. This is a project that will continue for quite a long time, so I'll be back week after next. We got through about 150 titles in an hour and a half, that was two and a half letters. The timing worked out pretty well. We ran out of bags right around when the other mother needed to leave.

We have two games today, volleyball in the morning and soccer in the afternoon. Somewhere in there, we need to fit in some laundry and the grocery shopping. I also want to get my winter coat to the dry cleaner. We don't have soccer next week, so even if Cordelia changes her mind about the game on the 25th, I'd have two weeks to get my coat back.
