Nov. 3rd, 2014 08:13 amWhat with the time change, we all got up fairly early. Scott went out to get bagels pretty much immediately, but he forgot his wallet, so he had to come back and go out again.
Scott made pancakes, but we only ate about half of them. Usually, we do better than that.
Apparently, Scott and Cordelia went to two shoe stores last night-- Cordelia's boots are not from DSW, but they did get a gift card for Scott's sister from DSW. Cordelia put on her boots yesterday morning and wore them off and on all day. They're seven and a halfs; Scott said he got a half size bigger than she needed so there'd be room to grow. This is a little puzzling as her soccer shoes are eights. Shoe sizing is usually more consistent than that.
Around two, we headed for Scott's parents' place. On the way up, we stopped at Burger King for lunch. It was disappointing for me-- I wanted the oreo shake they advertised, but they were out. I also ordered a fish sandwich without tartar sauce but still ended up with tartar sauce.
Scott's parents were busy cooking chicken when we arrived. We couldn't have Scott's sister's usual favorite meal this year because she can no longer have tomatoes (She's eating a modified paleo and reintroducing foods gradually). Instead, we had chicken with a lemon sauce. Scott's mother wasn't sure even about that because Scott's sister's food issues are reflux related.
Scott's brother and his family bought Scott's parents an iPad, largely so that they could do FaceTime with them. Scott's parents are still largely lost on how to make the thing work, and for some reason, they can't get incoming FaceTime notifications. They can call out fine. They just don't get anything when someone tries to call them. Our niece spent most of the afternoon playing with the iPad.
I skipped dessert because it was a crustless pumpkin pie. I'd had a migraine earlier in the day, and something with that much egg seemed unwise. I'm told that the pie wasn't very good. Cordelia ate all of hers to be polite, but she says she didn't enjoy it. Most everybody who had some said it was lacking somehow. Nobody was sure just what was missing.
Scott spent a while after dinner showing his mother how to delete things from the iPad. I think she needs several hours of help in a more focused way. I think, too, that she's afraid to experiment for fear of doing something irretrievable.
When we got back to Ann Arbor, we went and got bubble tea then crossed the street to Insomnia Cookies and got a cookie each. It was kind of late at night for bubble tea, and my body wasn't best pleased by it. I thought, when I lay down for the night, that I was going to have reflux, but I slept okay anyway.
I'm going to have two extra kids tomorrow. I'll take all three of them along when I go to vote. Hopefully, the line won't be too long (though a longer line would mean better turn out which would be a good thing), and hopefully the weather will be relatively warm. The National Weather Service predicts highs in the mid-50s F with 'light showers likely,' so maybe if I wait and go around two or even three, then the wait outside the polling place won't be so bad. I've only got one umbrella, though, so I hope we can find a time when it isn't raining.
