Nov. 6th, 2014 11:30 amCordelia had volleyball practice last night. I think the door at the school was unlocked. At any rate, she got in, running way ahead of me and waving for me to leave, and the door was unlocked when I arrived to pick her up. The coach has been giving them edible treats as rewards for things they do in practice. Cordelia definitely approves of this.
We have free tickets for a University of Michigan volleyball game on Saturday. Scott's just not sure he'll be up to going, and Cordelia only wants to go if she can bring a friend. Scott won't know how he's feeling until the day of, and by then, it will be too late for Cordelia to invite anybody.
Scott's work called about ten last night, trying to get him to volunteer to go in early. Ten is late enough that he'd only get about three hours of sleep before working a twelve hour day (and it would be a longer day than that because Thursdays they have mandatory after work meetings). At any rate, Scott said no, and they must have found someone else because they didn't call back and insist.
This morning, I spent three hours at the school library. I shelved books, checked books in and out, and taped more barcodes and i.d.s to sticks. The books I ordered from Amazon for the library had arrived. The librarian expects them to fly right off the shelves, and I agree. That's why I picked those books-- The latest in the Amulet graphic novel series, two Guinness Books of World Records, and a Garfield book. All of those are wildly popular.
The librarian did ask if I planned to come in next Thursday. Next Thursday is a big day for the school. They're doing an expo in the evening to show off the projects all of the classes have been working on for the last two months. (I believe they'll have two or three more before the end of the school year, but I'm not positive.) The librarian expects that there'll be a lot to be done to get ready for that, and she thinks my help will be useful.
Cordelia is eagerly looking forward to the expo. She's mentioned it several times as something we must do, and she tells me that all they're doing this week and next is getting ready for the expo. I think, based on what she's said, that the projects aimed at addressing the global water crisis are what Cordelia's class will be showing off. We'll have to take some pictures that Scott can show at work to show that the bottles his company donated are being put to good use.
Scott's probably going to miss the first part of the expo. It runs 5:30-7:30, and because it's Thursday, he won't get home until 4:30 or 5:00 at best. Then he needs to shower and change. The whole process tends to take him at least an hour (part of that is that he's draggingly tired). We'll have to wait and have dinner after the expo, I think. I don't know that I want to rush to get Cordelia and myself fed by 5:25 (it's a three minute walk to the school). Then again, maybe I should-- I can't eat safely after 8:00.
