Animaniacs series 3 - Wikipedia tells me that the DVD series of this show don't correspond exactly to seasons. I can't recall what series 3 covers. This was more of the same. I still don't particularly appreciate this sort of humor. A lot of it feels mean.

Best of the Flatt & Scruggs TV Show - I thought this was a CD when I put a hold on it. I'd probably have gotten it anyway because I like Flatt & Scruggs, but I might not have gotten it quite so soon. The DVD was scratched, so it skipped and froze a lot.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier - Scott dithered a little bit over whether to buy this. He wanted it, but he kind of thought he should wait and let someone give it to him for Christmas. He couldn't resist, however, and picked it up at Kroger. I thought the movie was pretty good, but I think I missed out on a fair amount because I'm not invested in Captain America or the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Lizzie McGuire Movie - Cordelia got this from Netflix. I kind of half paid attention to it while it was on. I'd seen parts of it before but had not previously caught the ending to know the twist. I was a little surprised by that. I shouldn't have been, not if I'd thought things through, but I wasn't expecting the downside to the situation.

Muppets Most Wanted - This was a considerably weaker movie than The Muppets. It was amusing, but the songs weren't really very good, and the plot was thin.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters - Cordelia wanted desperately to see this. She said she wanted to know how bad it really was. Her conclusion was that it was pretty bad. I think that, if one didn't know the book, it wouldn't be quite so awful. I mean it would still be dreadful, just not as dreadful. I think the writers made some questionable choices in the adaptation that made Percy look petty and self centered. I'm also not entirely sure why they bothered to include Tyson; they didn't really make sensible use of him.

The Princess Diaries - Cordelia got this from Netflix. I'd seen most of this one before from the various times we've caught it on TV. I found it fairly charming when I was paying attention. At any rate, it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. There was too much embarrassment humor for my taste, but it didn't feel mean.

The Princess Diaries 2 - I'm not sure I should count this one. I think I watched half to two thirds of this because I was in and out of the room. I couldn't bring myself to sit down and watch. I was glad to discover that the main character is supposed to be 21 in this one (as opposed to 16 in the original) because I knew that this one involved her being required to marry. I'm more comfortable with a plot like that around a 21 year old than around a 16 or 17 year old. I am glad that the story resolved without the heroine actually having to marry.

Tai Chi Zero - We watched about two thirds of this and then hit bedtime. We only watched the rest the next night because we had nothing else and I'd forgotten to send the DVD back. Scott insisted on watching the dub because he didn't want to have to pay as much attention as subtitles would require. We had the subtitles on anyway, though. The most jarring thing about the dub (and the sub) was the use of 'Peking' for 'Beijing.' I didn't think anyone used Peking any more. Scott commented that this movie was basically a comic book, and I think he's right. I'm kind of vaguely curious about the sequel but not enough so to follow up on it. This really wasn't our type of movie.
