Nov. 8th, 2014 10:29 amYesterday, I had lunch with
odosgirl. We went to Panera as usual. I used to hate eating at Panera, but I've gotten to where I'm comfortable with it, mostly. I had some squash soup and turkey cranberry sandwich that dripped juice all down my arm.
odosgirl is doing pretty well. Her dissertation is almost done, and she expects to have it completed by Thanksgiving and defended by Christmas. Her husband has gotten his own apartment; their divorce will be final in January.
We talked books and TV and literary representations of Thomas Paine (the subject of her dissertation). We talked from 11:30 until 1:45. Neither of us gets a lot of chance to speak to other adults. I've got Scott, of course, but there are long bits during the day when I don't talk to anyone. I think I need to spend more time on IRC. It's not the same (and I don't say much in IRC), but it's better than nothing.
I made a start on LARP preparation. I've printed the possession cards (32 sheets worth, at eight cards a sheet). I've put the character sheets into the folders. The background has to wait until Scott ventures forth to a copy shop because I'm not planning to staple any of this stuff, and one of the things he's to copy has to come first after the character sheet because it's the most important background information for the players. There are twelve pages of background. I did a lot of research for this game. I wish I had a way to get the characters to players in advance because I don't see any way that most people will have time to read all of the background. That being the case, I'm putting it in order from most important to least important-- Political background, general background, information on deities, information on monsters. Maybe I should reverse the last two. But who's going to get that far anyway?
Scott had to go in early this morning. He was hoping that he wouldn't actually have to, but he did. I'm fairly peeved with one of his work supervisors, though-- The man called at 10:30 last night, demanding to talk to Scott in order to tell him that he had to come in at 3:00 a.m. It took me three tries to get through to him that Scott was expecting to go in at 3:00 already and that there was therefor no point in waking Scott up to tell him that. I had to speak very slowly and use small words. I was pretty angry by the time I got off the phone.
I woke this morning with a migraine. Coffee and some naratriptan seems to have helped, but I'm not entirely happy. I can't think why I'd have a migraine now. Mostly, I get them around my period, and that was last week (and I did have migraines, mild ones, then). This morning's migraine wasn't horrible. I could move, and I could eat. I could tell, though, that, if I didn't hit it hard, it would just get worse and worse.
