We're at UCon right now. I'm in our hotel room. I considered trying to get moving in time to play a game at 9:00, but I've still got this cold, and I'm not sure I'm up to thinking. I have to get myself there in time for our LARP at 2:00.

Scott got home a little after 4:00 yesterday. He showered faster than I expected, and we ran around trying to pack all the last minute stuff. Even then, we still left some stuff behind-- Scott's medications and the second bag he packed didn't make it to the car.

Traffic on 23 was terrible (not unexpected at a little after 5:00 on a Friday). We inched along in places. When we got to 94, things opened up considerably. We got to the hotel about 5:30. I checked us in while Scott parked the car (an advantage to having me make the reservation). We're on the fifth floor in a corner room with a king bed (Scott's 6'2") and a hide-a-bed. Cordelia likes the hide-a-bed better than the rollaway we had last year.

Scott and I both went to the panel on gaming with children. It wasn't so much a panel as a group discussion. There were about ten people present, and all of us had stories to share. [livejournal.com profile] cherydactyl moderated, and her sixteen year old daughter sat in and made occasional comments. The main conclusion I took away from the group was that Cordelia's reluctance to play games may have something to do with never seeing me play and possibly also with being an only child.

After the panel, Scott and Cordelia went and brought back McDonald's food for dinner. Then Cordelia took off to spend time with her friends while Scott went grocery shopping and I sat in the room and wished this cold were better. Eventually, Scott came back. We unpacked the food, and then he went out to see if he could find a pick up game of some sort (he did. I don't remember the name of the game). I put our clothes in drawers because I thought it would be easier for us each to find things if we didn't have to rummage in the suitcase (we used one very big suitcase for the three of us).

Scott came in a bit after 10:00. Cordelia begged to be allowed to stay out until 11:00 as that's when her friends were due back at their rooms. We were all in bed by about 11:30. I set my phone alarm for 8:00 because Cordelia wanted to be able to meet her friends at 9:00.

I'm pretty sure everything is ready for the game this afternoon. I'm a little concerned. I'm not sure that anyone pre-registered for the event. I need at least fourteen people to run and can easily handle up to twenty. Beyond twenty hasn't happened in many, many years, so I don't expect it. I plan to get to the room about ten minutes ahead of time. I won't be able to get into the room, but some of the players might be there, and I can let them get started reading the twelve pages of background information.
