Nov. 17th, 2014 11:06 amScott called in sick today. He needs the extra time to recover. The downsides are that he only gets two sick days every six months and that calling in puts him first in line for whatever overtime is required this week. That could matter because, Saturday at 6:00, Cordelia has to be at our niece's birthday party about forty-five minutes away. It will be hard to get there on time if Scott has to work that day.
Scott ate a sleeve and a half of saltines yesterday and drank about two thirds of the gatorade. I think he's doing well enough that, after some more sleep, he and I will be able to do the grocery shopping and the library run. The former may well involve him sitting in the little coffee shop at Kroger while I try to find everything, but we can do that.
Some parents have been trying to organize a sixth grade outing for bowling. Unfortunately, only four kids (including Cordelia) even said maybe they'd come. Cordelia only wants to do it if some of her friends are going, and the other three kids who are interested are all boys. Today's the deadline for reserving the lanes, so I don't know that this event is going to happen. The organizing mother said she needed more yeses. I'm kind of surprised that nobody wants to do it.
We've heard, through the grapevine, that a lot of people chose not to play in our LARP this year because they remembered the particular game too well from the last time we ran it. I suppose, as the only historical game we ever did, it is memorable that way. That still doesn't help with how I feel about it.
