I napped yesterday morning for about three hours. I was tired enough that, even when I got up to use the bathroom, I was still at least half dreaming. I woke at 11:00 when the doorbell rang because the mail carrier was leaving a package for Scott. I felt completely awake, so I stayed up and called it good.

At 3:00, I went over to the school to help with book fair set up. There were six or seven other people there, so they didn't really need me and Cordelia. We did help, though, and everything was set up by 4:00 when the next shift (me, Cordelia, a woman we know, and her daughter) was scheduled to start. We all stayed until about 4:30 because the woman from Scholastic did a demo of the cash register. The process seems pretty straightforward. I know I'll be really nervous when it comes time to use the cash register, but I should be able to do it.

This year, they're not selling any of the pens, pencils, erasers, etc. The principal reportedly vetoed them, and I guess I can understand her reasoning. Those are the things most likely to get stolen. The downside is that they're also the one thing that almost all the kids can afford. They also didn't have the various science kits and electronics that they usually have. I don't know if the principal said no to them or if Scholastic decided they weren't making enough money off of them. The latter seems unlikely, but I can't think why the principal would veto those. I think they also didn't have posters this year. Those never sold well, so I'm not too worried about them.

I'm a little concerned that there were fewer books than in years past when there are more than twice as many kids in the school. It seems likely to me that the sale will run out of an awful lot of things. We'll be able to order copies for later delivery, but given when school lets out for vacation, it will be tight to get them in time.

Scott had to be prepared to go in early this morning, but they called about 11:30 to tell us that he didn't have to go in, so we slept in until 9:00. Cordelia's volleyball game is at 11:20, so we have to be there at 11:00.
