Is a 10x15 pan really a thing that normal people have? I have two 8x8 pans and two 9x13 pans (and a couple of odd sized pans in between those that I don't use much), but I keep running into recipes that that ask for sizes of pan that I don't have. Oh, well, a 9x13 pan will have to do. I'm not sending Scott out to buy a new pan on Christmas Eve, especially not for just one recipe.

I made the bacon wrapped dates last night. I always feel like I'm making too few of them given how popular they are, but there are always some left at the end of the day, so two packages of bacon worth must be about right. I saved off the bacon grease. I don't know what I'll do with it, but it must be good for something. One year, I used it for the stuffing on New Year's Eve, but I can't do that this year because we've invited one of Cordelia's friends who is Muslim. It would be beyond rude.

The applesauce came out pretty well. I cooked it for a couple of hours with the lid off to get rid of some of the water, but it was still a little thinner than I like when I cooled it off and packaged it up. When we make applesauce in the crock pot, it always turns brown. I don't remember that happening when I made it on the stove. We're thinking to take the applesauce to Christmas dinner, too. Scott's sister ought to be able to eat it. It's nothing but apples. Though I don't know; she might be off apples, too.

I intended to get up around 9:00, but I dozed off again. I was awakened by a phone call. It was UHS calling to set up the appointment I'd asked to schedule. I'll see my doctor in early February. I'll have to use the website to request refills for pretty much all of my prescriptions before then as they run out in January, but that shouldn't be a problem as I last saw her in July. It's only a problem if I haven't been in for a year. I wonder if I'll actually need blood tests this time? I'm going off the problem medication, but I won't be off it entirely by then (I expect to be down to 20 mg a day from 120 mg a day then and to go down to nothing some time in February).

I heard back from the beta reader for my Yuletide fic, and she thinks she can still do it. I just have to get back to her about what formats I can read and how I want her to give comments. I've got about five hours to get this done before we leave for Scott's parents' place, and in that time, I also need to bake butterscotch chip bars and shower.

The last of Cordelia's Christmas presents just arrived. At least, I assume that's what's in the boxes. I haven't ordered anything else. Scott'll be able to wrap those tonight while I fill the stockings.

Whichever of us finishes first will get the rice set to go over night. I hope it's him. I don't want to chop garlic. I don't mind chopping the green onions, but garlic is a pain to chop and get small enough. The recipe I'm pulling from calls for butter, mushrooms, and chicken broth, all of which are forbidden by Scott's sister's current diet. I'm hoping that sauted garlic (in canola oil), green onions, and plenty of salt will give the rice some character.

Okay, time to shower. I can't put it off any longer if I hope to have my hair dry by the time we need to leave.

I ran into the pan thing when I was making butterscotch chip bars a couple weeks ago. Apparently a 10x15 is basically a small cookie sheet, you press the dough out fairly thin. We had one, but I thought it was a cookie sheet. If you do it in the 9x13 pan like I did, cook it extra long or it will come out really gooey in the middle.
