Dec. 27th, 2014 04:22 pmWell, I have spent my Christmas gift certificates. They totaled $30 and were for Book Bound, the neighborhood bookstore. I feel a little weird buying books because I know perfectly well that they're going to sit on the shelf, unread, for months and perhaps years. I have books I got last Christmas that I still haven't opened, and those were things actually on my wishlist. The things I got today are just what I could pull together that looked vaguely interesting and added up to $30.
Cordelia got one book, one she'll finish in less than a day because it's part of a series she has simply blown through. It's the latest in Sarah Miynowski's Whatever After series of fairy tale retellings.
Scott got two books, the second and third of the William Shakespeare does Star Wars set. He put an order in on the first book which they don't currently have in stock.
I got the first volume of Rat Queens. I'm not at all sure it will be my sort of thing, but I've heard good things about it and have wanted to try it, and this is likely my best opportunity. Of what I bought, I'm the most likely to actually read Rat Queens because it's so very short. I also got The Hero's Guide to Saving the Kingdom by Christopher Healy and The Queen Must Die by K.A.S. Quinn. Both of those are children's books, and neither is something I've heard anything about. They'll go on my to be read shelf and probably sit there forever.
