the_rckNone of us want to eat the lemon bars I made last week. They didn't come out tasting the way I remember them tasting. They're simply not lemony enough. The recipe calls for either lemon extract or lemon zest, in addition to the lemon juice, and I used extract. Maybe my mother used zest? I don't remember her doing so, but it's possible. I'd think that her zesting a lemon would be memorable.
The surprise hit, out of all the cookies I made, were the gooey butter bars. I almost didn't make them because I didn't think they'd be all that, but everyone who tried them loved them.
I'm actually up before Cordelia for a change. I didn't get back to sleep after Scott got up, and around 7:15, I gave up and got up. Of course, Cordelia doesn't tend to come out of her room right when she wakes up. Her light was off half an hour ago, but I haven't checked since. She might be up by now and just reading in bed.
She didn't find anything at Target yesterday that she wanted to buy. According to Scott, she said all the games looked boring, and she found neither music nor DVDs that appealed to her. My guess is that she'll end up trading the card to Scott for iTunes money or a for a game purchased some place other than Target.
When Cordelia buys music, she's very concerned about getting the clean version of the lyrics. She's not comfortable with swearing and reprimands us if we do it. She's not uncomfortable with all of the stuff that gets bleeped out when we watch The Daily Show, though, so I don't know.
Scott had a hard time getting through all of Blood of Olympus before we had to return it to the library yesterday. With a book on CD, it's harder. One can't skim or hurry. We ended up sitting in the library parking lot to listen to the last two chapters. So I know how the series ends for all the main characters. Good thing I don't object to spoilers.
