We got moving fairly slowly yesterday morning. All three of us needed to shower, and it was around 1:00 by the time that was done.
Scott had forgotten to buy the chicken sausages I normally eat for lunch, and I was reluctant to eat leftover turkey for lunch when I expected to eat it for dinner as well. Scott suggested we go out, and I suggested Cafe Marie. Cordelia decided that maybe she could go along with that since it was late enough in the day that they'd be serving lunch food (she doesn't like their breakfast food. I have no idea why). Scott and I both had our usual cherry chicken sandwich. We both got sweet potato fries because they were out of onion rings. Usually one of us gets sweet potato fries while the other gets onion rings, and we share. Cordelia had a BLT with fries. She got a little cup of mayonnaise with her sandwich and immediately started dipping her fries in it. I guess she really likes mayonnaise.
From there, we went to Kroger for the sausages and then on to JoAnn's. Scott's brother and his family gave Cordelia a JoAnn's gift card, and she wanted to get some yarn. For some reason, the gift card was for exactly $17. That seems like a peculiar amount. Usually people go for multiples of five when they get gift cards. Our current theory is that there was some sort of fee for having the card mailed to Cordelia.
Cordelia bought four skeins of yarn. Scott over-estimated what the yarn cost. She actually had enough that she could have purchased another skein. Fortunately, since what was left on the gift card was under $5, they were willing to give her cash for it.
By that time, it had started to snow, but it wasn't coming down too hard. We headed back into town, stopping at Bubble Island for bubble tea on the way to the library. While we were buying bubble tea, Scott took a couple of unguarded Ingress portals (and kept them for about ten minutes). He also noted that the bubble tea place across the street, Momo Tea, was gone. There's another tea shop replacing it, however, so we're not clear whether it's simply a name change (with or without a change in ownership) or if it's an entirely new business that won't serve bubble tea. Maybe in the spring we'll cross the street and find out. I didn't like Momo Tea's bubble tea as well as Bubble Island's, but Momo Tea had a couple of flavors that I did like (especially the ginger tea).
We spent maybe fifteen minutes inside Bubble Island, and by the time we emerged, there was a layer of white over everything. The snow was really coming down. The sidewalks were slick, and none of us were wearing boots.
We didn't spend long in the library. Scott stayed in the car to listen to his book on CD (and see if there were any Ingress portals he could reach from there) while Cordelia and I went inside. We got my holds then went upstairs to look for a copy of The Hunger Games. The library catalog claimed that there were about half a dozen copies of the book in, but not a single one was on the shelf. There were two copies each of Catching Fire and Mockingjay but not a single one of the first book in the series. I was really hoping there would be one we could grab so that I could avoid having to go to the library mid-week to pick up the copy I'd placed on hold (which, naturally, came in about an hour after we got home). Ah, well. I have an appointment in that area on Friday. A side trip to the library won't be that big a deal.
This week's library haul included a couple of books on CD for Scott. One of them is short, and I know he'll enjoy it. That one can probably be renewed if necessary. The other is very, very long, and I'm not sure Scott will like it. It's also the only copy the library owns and has nine more people on the waitlist. Scott's only about halfway through his current book on CD, so I don't know when he'll get to either of these. That one is the first in a trilogy, and I have to find out if he's going to want the rest. His comment on it was that the writing is competent and interesting but that the story is incredibly predictable.
Scott and I caught up on The Librarians and intended to watch last night's episode as it aired. Unfortunately, we lost track of time and only realized it was on when it was half over. We decided we'd wait and catch it on demand. Instead, we watched an episode of Leverage.
Cordelia has decided that she wants to watch Divergent a third time, so we haven't sent that back to Netflix yet. I think that, before I let her watch that again, I'll demand that she go through at least part of her dresser. She can't close the drawers of her dresser, and she either can't or doesn't wear most of what's in there. She dresses entirely out of her weekly basket of clean laundry. I'd like to at least get rid of what doesn't fit. I think, for example, that she'd be fine with ten short sleeved shirts and ten long sleeved shirts and a couple of sweatshirts or sweaters.
