Jan. 21st, 2015 10:46 amScott had to work late again last night. He says there's a chance they may want him to do it again tonight, but he's going to do his best to avoid that. He's done two twelve hour days in a row and is signed up to go in early on Saturday. The difficult part is that there's so much overtime that pretty much everybody is either staying late or going in early every day. That makes getting out of it much, much harder.
I made meatloaf for dinner using ground turkey. I added some Alfredo sauce and some teriyaki sauce for the liquid (most recipes call for ketchup, but we all hate that). The meatloaf didn't come out as flavorful as I hoped it would, but at least Cordelia ate it without complaining. There's enough meatloaf left to feed us tonight, and I've got some chicken thawing. The chicken may not be ready in time to cook tomorrow, though, so I may have to go with potstickers.
I have to find a different box for the books I want to take to Cordelia's school. The box I had put them in was too shallow for me to be able to carry them in it and has broken under the strain of holding the books. Scott says we have a better box; I just have to locate it.
I need to wrap our nephew's birthday presents today. His birthday is Sunday, and it's already too late to ship the dratted things to arrive by then (not to mention that Scott having so much overtime makes getting to the post office unlikely). I feel a little bad just giving him books as he's not much of a reader (my sister says that he wants stories but doesn't want to read books). I was going to get him a shot glass or two since he collects those, but I saw these books at the school's Scholastic book fair, and I thought they were all things he would enjoy. All of the books are also part of series that he can pursue if he likes them.
