We're pretty sure Cordelia has pinworms. The symptoms are sufficiently classic that the doctor didn't even ask me to bring her in. She just phoned in the prescription to the pharmacy. We've got days of washing bedding and two weeks of stuffed animals sealed away (Scott suggested that we put them in ziploc bags so that Cordelia can still see them. I'm not sure it's a good idea-- She'll want the bags in bed with her).

Last night was the school's International Dinner. It's a potluck to which each family brings a dish reflecting their cultural/ethnic background. We ended up taking banana bread because I had some in the freezer. It all got eaten, so I guess it was a good contribution. Cordelia sampled several things but didn't finish most of it. Scott had to be cautious for fear of beef, so he ate at home after the dinner was over. The food was pretty good. I think I ate too much, and I definitely tried a couple of things that were spicier than I could handle.

Cordelia's first basketball class was yesterday. She seemed to enjoy it, but she said afterward that the teacher was mean. Still, she's looking forward to next Thursday.

We're going to be really busy for a few weeks. Swim class is Monday night (and Brownies will be Mondays after swim class ends). Tuesday will be a Rec & Ed Chinese class (which Cordelia really, really looks forward to. I hope they have enough kids signed up to run). Thursdays will be basketball. Somewhere in there will be preparation for the Science Olympiad in June. Cordelia wanted to sign up for two events. She'll get at least one. I'll be coaching one of her events (signing up a kid for the Olympiad requires signing up an adult volunteer), Rock Hunters, an event about knowing facts about rocks and being able to identify them.

I'm nervous about the coaching. I have no idea how to teach about rocks, especially without sample rocks. I also don't know if I'll be doing all grades or just second grade. There's a meeting next Thursday night to give more information to the coaches. One more task on our plate. At least I get to set the schedule for practices-- no more than once a week, no less than once a month.

Am I a lazy slacker mum or what? I never bothered with that much mucking around. We just do Combantrin chocolate for the family (over the counter), and a normal change of sheets and jammies the next day. Plush toys just go through the washing machine in a batch once every couple of years, and anything that can't survive machine washing gets thrown out.

Yeah, and I know I'm pretty laissez-faire. Pinworms are everywhere, all kids get them pretty frequently, and if you somehow managed to completely sterilise your environment they'd still be exposed wherever else they go. As far as I can tell it's mostly a matter of just keeping the load down to a dull roar with occasional eradication.

You don't have readily available adult remedies? What a pain. Here one choc pack treats a whole family.
