metanews. I did Pinboard and both halves of the blog list. I can't keep doing the whole blog list, though. It's exhausting. We've put out a call for more volunteers, but who knows if we'll get any? We need to cover half of the blog list, AO3, LJ, and Tumblr because we've got nobody assigned to doing any of those. I probably could have done AO3, yesterday-- I had time enough-- but I felt overwhelmed and tired.
Because ofmetanews, I didn't have much time or energy for writing. I managed a couple of sentences, but that was all. I will be doing the metanews post this week, so I'll probably lose another day of writing, probably Thursday, to that. I also have to decide how a particular character would react to a sexual situation, and I'm really up in the air about it.
I made brownies, ran the dishwasher, and washed a load of towels yesterday. The brownies weren't really needed because Scott bought pie again on Monday, and we haven't finished that, but I didn't know when I'd next have a chance to bake the dratted things, so I went ahead anyway.
I'm up earlier than usual today because I have a doctor's appointment later this morning. Cordelia's not pleased to have me around while she's getting ready for school, but she's dealing with it, apart from some complaining. The appointment's not until 9:45, so I don't have to be out the door until 8:45, but I thought that getting up at 7:50, when Cordelia leaves, would be pushing things.
I'm not sure how to dress when I go out for the appointment. The weather has been pretty variable, between the 40s F, which is still definitely coat weather, and the 60s F, which is light jacket weather. I haven't looked at the weather forecast yet. I should. Hopefully there won't be any rain. It's still too dark out to tell if the sky is clear from inside our house, and I haven't ventured out to look.
Cordelia apparently uses our AppleTV to watch YouTube in the mornings before school. I'm glad someone's getting some use out of it. I don't really see why she loves Kelly Clarkson so much, but I don't expect to understand her musical taste. I'm thirty five years older than she is, after all. Not that there seems to be anything wrong with Kelly Clarkson; her stuff just seems to me to be only so-so.
The bananas Scott got on Saturday are already thoroughly ripe, so I put them in the fridge. It seems like a good time to try that; people have been suggesting it to me for years, and I've just kept forgetting. I don't need more overripe bananas, especially not five of them. I already have two from last week that are going to be banana bread on Friday (they're not quite ready yet, but I think they will be by then).
Cordelia was kind of annoyed with us for watching Agents of SHIELD last night. It's on at 9:00, so it's past her bedtime, but she now wants to see it. Unfortunately, we haven't figured out a way to get her the first half of season two for free, so she'd be really lost if she picked up season two where it is right now.
The fourth, fifth and sixth graders from Cordelia's school have a field trip today to hear a concert. The music teacher asked the kids to dress up, but Cordelia chose not to. I don't feel that it's my job to make her, not any more. She's old enough that what she wears is (mostly) up to her.
Cordelia's report card was, as far as we can tell, quite good. The teachers rate kids on a scale of 1-4 for various skills, 1 being worst, and 4 being best. Cordelia got mostly 4s with a couple of 3s in the social skills section. Unfortunately, her teachers don't seem to like giving comments, so we have nothing to go on but the listed skills and associated numbers. We've offered to do something with Cordelia to celebrate, but she seems tepid on the idea. I'm surprised because she likes going out, for dinner or fro-you or whatever. I suspect she's not sure just what's in the right range to ask for for this.
