Cordelia and her friends made brownies from a mix yesterday. They kept asking me for instructions, and I kept telling them to read the package. It went fairly well, but they neglected to grease the pan. The brownies still come out of the pan without much trouble, though, so the kids don't see why greasing the pan was necessary. We also had only half as much canola oil as we needed, so the kids had to use sesame oil for part of it. Cordelia insists on using hot pads to put things into the oven as well as to take them out (she also uses them when taking toast out of the toaster oven). I laughed at her, but she was adamant.

As soon as the brownies went in, the kids wanted lunch. I pointed out that they couldn't start cooking chicken patties until the oven was free. That led to a lot of checking the timer on the oven to see if the brownies were going to be done soon. They did fine preparing the chicken patties. They weren't sure why I wanted them to put down foil under the patties until they took the pan out and saw how much grease had cooked out of the patties.

Cordelia made my coffee yesterday and brought me my meds. She was quite willing to help out until her friends arrived. Then she became fairly reluctant and grumbled about having to help me. I couldn't talk her into making me tea at all. That had to wait until Scott got home.

The kids spent a lot of time in Cordelia's room, watching movies. Privacy apparently has more appeal than the large screen of our TV. I don't know what they actually watched, but the movies they were talking about where I could hear them were all appropriate, and Cordelia's Netflix account is limited to PG-13 stuff.

We had pizza for dinner last night. The breadsticks we got weren't entirely done, but the pizzas were still tasty. The chicken teriyaki pizza is back to tasting the way we like it. Cordelia has given up on sauce on her pizza because, the last couple of times she's had it, there was too much sauce.

Scott and I finished watching our Netflix DVD (the start of season 5 of Leverage). That went back out in today's mail. I did up a grocery list. Cordelia was decidedly unhelpful with that. I needed to know what she wanted for breakfast and lunch all next week, and she didn't know. We didn't even discuss dinner options, and we do need to. She's going to end up cooking at least once I expect.

There's a lot to get done today, and I can't help with any of it. I'm very frustrated about that. We need to make two loaves of bread. We need to do all of our laundry. Scott needs to do the grocery shopping and the trip to the library (he'll probably have to pay for parking, but the library is closed tomorrow due to Easter). I'd like to see the sheets on our bed changed, but that may be too much to ask of Scott. It usually takes both of us to do it, and I simply can't.

Scott took time out before his shower to make my coffee and get me my meds and my breakfast. I'm grateful for that. I didn't want to have to yell for Cordelia to come help me, and it seemed foolish to do it all myself when getting help was an option. Some time later today, I hope to take a bath and to wash my hair. I really, really want to do that.

It's kind of weird. I've noticed that, while I'm wearing the boot, I have trouble emptying my bladder. It's very definite, and I don't have any trouble when I'm not wearing the boot. My current theory is that the boot forces me to sit in a position that simply doesn't work as well for what I need to do.

Not Prime Time is starting to get rolling, and I'm debating whether or not I should participate. I've enjoyed it the last couple of years, but it would mean stopping work on the Harry Potter thing which seems to be flowing really, really well. I've already let a couple of attractive exchanges pass me by in order to keep working on other things. I like the stories I produce for exchanges; I think I've written some good stuff there. I just don't know. I'd really like to get one of these big projects off my plate. Of course, I don't know that I'll ever finish something really long. Those seem to stretch eternally.

I don't know if Remix is happening this year. That would be a bigger temptation than NPT, but I haven't heard even the slightest whisper about it happening, and I'd have expected to by now.
