Scott is apparently playing up my broken foot to minimize his required overtime (given that that still meant two twelve hour days this week, I'd hate to think what the week would look like without that). He's given them an exaggerated sense of what I can't do without actually lying about it. Basically, nobody there has ever had a broken foot or lived with someone who did, so they're imagining things pretty much as they were when I wasn't allowed to put weight on it at all.

This week's [community profile] metanews post isn't up yet, and I'm concerned. It's not my week to post, and I'm pretty sure the person who is supposed to post is in Australia, so it's not likely to go up today unless it goes up pretty late. The last time we ran this late, we ended up skipping a week and doing a double long post. I really don't want to do that this time because the post is already too long to fit into a single LJ post (it runs over thirty pages in Google docs). Also, I don't think that readers will enjoy having a double sized post dumped on them. I don't think anybody has time to deal with something that large.

I haven't heard from the other moderator in a couple of days in spite of having sent some emails. It's likely that they're just busy, but I always worry. I have offered to take charge of getting our potential volunteers up to speed. They've been waiting for weeks, and we desperately, desperately need their help.

Scott is planning to go see Age of Ultron this weekend. I'm not sure exactly when. He tried to talk Cordelia into going with him, but she refused. He doesn't want to go alone, but he doesn't have anybody to go with. Maybe he should call his sister and see if her kids want to go with him. That's what he did for The Hobbit.

Thanks for the work you do on metanews; I look for it with anticipation each week.

Stop waiting for permission. You're a mod too, and you need the help, so step up and get those volunteers up to speed. If the other mod doesn't like it, too bad: They had an opportunity to respond and didn't. If you wait too long your volunteers will go and do something else.

Sometimes it's better to get forgiveness than permission, especially when you might not actually need the other's permission.

Then post an apologetic "My co-mod has fallen off the face of the planet and I don't have the contact information for any of you wonderful volunteers, so please drop me a note at... so we can start working together" note. You can spin the initial clause as politely or rudely as you so choose. ;-)

re: Scott and "Age of Ultron:" I find myself going to a fair number of arts events by myself. In our family it's more concerts than movies, because my wife's position is that she'd rather be in a show or a concert than out in the audience watching one. So just this week it was me, alone, at the Metropolitan Opera movie theater presentation. (Which I count as more of a musical event than a movie, but one could classify it either way, I suppose... :-) ) Two weeks back, it was just me for the cello recital at Kerrytown Concert House.

I'm a little surprised that neither you nor C. are going to see "Age of Ultron." I'm increasingly cranky about the quantity of comic book movies, but even I expect to see this one. I don't want to pry, but I'm curious, if you want to elaborate. Seemed like it would be up both your alleys, and I think I would have been quite enthusiastic about the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies when I was a teenager.

Matt and I will probably see the movie this weekend. If Scott wants to have peeps what with to watch the movie, have him e-mail us and we will work out the deets.

I think it is completely legitimate for Scott to be doing less at work while you have a broken foot.

My older two kids really want to see that movie, but so far have not managed to find someone to take them. So they would have happily gone with Scott. :)
