I saw my psychiatrist today. She says that the dry mouth problem I've been having is probably due to the increased dose of Wellbutrin. We decided not to change my meds since I've been so distracted by other things that I can't really judge whether or not the change in the Wellbutrin is helpful. She did suggest that, for times when I absolutely must go out for appointments, I set myself an iCal reminder so that I take an Ativan before I leave home. It might very well help with the wrung out feeling I have after getting home (being alert for potential disaster every second is exhausting).
I am very, very glad that I rescheduled this appointment and didn't try to go while I was still using the walker. The front entrance to the building has about five steps, two outside the door and three inside. My psychiatrist tells me that there's a ramp at the back entrance to the building, but she said it's very, very steep and that someone would have had to come downstairs to let me in (at the front door, they can buzz me in). The office itself is two floors with reception downstairs and my doctor's office upstairs. Fortunately, they have a small elevator, so I didn't have to take off my boot to deal with the stairs (I wore my light brace under the boot, just in case I had no choice but the stairs. I knew I couldn't manage them with the boot on, and I wanted some sort of support if I had to climb them).
evalerie picked me up from my appointment. I was a little annoyed when, while I was waiting for her to arrive, a big truck pulled up directly in front of the building. I wasn't sure she'd be able to see me. Fortunately, she did.
We detoured on the way to my house so that I could vote. There were two things on the ballot, a local bond proposal to fund repairs to the schools and the replacement of some equipment that's falling apart and Proposition 1 which asks us to accept a higher sales tax in order to fund road repairs. I really loathe the idea of raising the sales tax because that hits poor people much harder than anyone else, but, if Prop 1 fails, the Republican state legislature will take that as a sign that people aren't willing to pay for road repair and will let the roads continue to deteriorate until they're beyond fixing. Michigan's roads are really, really bad right now. There's a lot of work that has needed doing for years or even decades. Just-- A sales tax, really? I'd much rather they brought back the state property tax.
evalerie stayed for maybe an hour. When she left, she took one of our houseplants with her. I was glad to see it go because I've had no idea what to do with it. There's no place I could put it where it would get any sun, and I suspect I've been watering it less than it really needs. It also keeps growing and growing. I think the single runner is probably over ten feet long now.
Cordelia and I did end up ordering from Jimmy John's last night. Cordelia loved her sandwich and is eager to repeat the experience. I thought my sandwich was merely serviceable. I am rather annoyed by one thing-- They sell bags of chips to go with their sandwiches, and Cordelia and I both ordered one. When they arrived, Cordelia noticed that the packaging said they were fried in peanut oil. That, of course, means I can't eat them. I think that's the sort of thing that merits a clear warning on the online menu (and in the store, too). My peanut allergy is mild, as such things go, but I've known people who've nearly died from things fried in peanut oil.
Scott is working late again tonight. We're hoping he can make it back to town before the polls close, but it will be a very close thing if he makes it. I'm currently trying to decide if I can cook tonight. It would simply be a matter of taking the meat out of the packaging, dropping it in a pan and putting that in the oven. I managed to finish loading the dishwasher earlier today. Putting meat in the oven shouldn't take more time than that, and Cordelia's perfectly capable of microwaving frozen green beans. I guess it will depend on how much my foot and ankle hurt by 5:30 or so.
I have concluded that it's time for me to get back to doing Sit and Be Fit. I'm pretty sure I can manage rearranging the living room and carrying in the chair from the dining room. I won't try to do any of the exercises standing up. Even the final section of the program is done in such a way that one can do it (in modified form) while remaining seated. The main person does the exercises standing while her daughter does them sitting down.
