May. 15th, 2015 10:02 amI still haven't filled out the paperwork for this afternoon's appointment. I'll do that after breakfast.
We're still waiting to hear from a couple of families about Cordelia's birthday party (one of them we only emailed last night, so it's not surprising). I'm hoping they'll get back to us quickly. One of the ones we haven't heard from is our niece. I'm not entirely sure she will want to come-- She's thirteen (and will be fourteen in November), and Cordelia's friends are either eleven or just turned twelve. Our niece is a couple of grades ahead of them in school, too. I tried to make it clear in the invitation that we would both love to have her at the party and completely understand if she didn't want to come. The girls have always gone to each other's parties, and it's pretty much always been awkward, but family politics are family politics.
Cordelia's dental appointment went well. I think I waited too late to take the Ativan. I need it most for the time before we leave the house, and I only remembered to take it about an hour before that. I wore the boot for the whole thing, and I think it's just as well that I did. I was fairly sore by evening, and I think it would have been worse with just the brace.
I walked to the school to get Cordelia (I can't get them to let her sign herself out and come home on her own which annoys me), and then we walked back to our house to call the cab. It was so close to the end of the school day that it was likely the cab wouldn't arrive until the buses were in the parking lot if we called from the school. It might not even arrive until after the kids were let out, and there do not need to be any extra vehicles in the parking lot then. It's far too crowded as it is.
Scott picked us up after the appointment. It might have been faster (but not cheaper) to call a cab because Cordelia finished up less than five minutes after I talked to Scott, and we had to wait about half an hour for him to arrive. We went straight to Kroger so that Scott could pick up some bread and a few other things. Cordelia complained about it a lot because she was hungry and because she was worried she wouldn't have time for her homework.
Our cleaning lady tidied my laptop table, and now I can't find anything. The most troublesome thing is that she seems to have removed the nailclippers from the table entirely, and I have no idea where she put them. They're so tiny that they're hard to spot, but they're definitely not on the table any more, and I need them because one of my thumbnails has started to chip because I've let it get too long. Scott has giant clippers in the bathroom, but I'm not sure about using them.
I'm debating names for a minor character in the fic I'm working on. The folks I've consulted like Malachi. I do too, but I hesitate because I have a strong childhood association of the name with another character. I will probably go with it, but I still hesitate.

Date: 2015-05-16 01:26 am (UTC)I just associate the name with the bumblebee in Eleanor Estes' The Witch Family, a book I read and reread in elementary school. I think I can get past that, but I'm considering it carefully.
