It is Cordelia's birthday today. She is twelve years old. I'm not entirely sure how that happened, but there it is. She's really excited because it means we'll let her sit in the front seat of the car (at least if I'm not in the car). She was adamantly opposed to me going to the library today because, if I did, she wouldn't get a chance to sit in front.
We will have six girls at Cordelia's party this afternoon. I think she was kind of hoping for fewer, but almost everybody we invited is coming in spite of having less than a week's notice. Cordelia wants to call the party a 'hang out' instead of a party. I suppose I can do that if it's important to her.
I baked her cake yesterday. I haven't frosted it yet, but I've got three hours to do that before the party, so I'm not worried. The time it took to prepare the cake mix was a little longer than my foot wanted me putting weight on it. I'm not sure what I'll do during the party if I need to be up and about. I might simply wear the boot. I seem to be able to stand for longer while wearing that than I can while wearing the brace.
I have a week left to finish reading Pioneer Girl. I can't renew it because there are about a hundred people on the waiting list. I don't know if I'll actually finish. It's kind of slow going, what with all of the annotations. Of course, I'm not entirely sure it will matter to me if I don't finish it. I'm finding it interesting but not riveting. Also, without the annotations, the book would be extremely short. Wilder covers time very rapidly and without a great deal of detail. I find myself wanting her to dig a little deeper.
I've done very little the last couple of days, but I'm still pretty tired. I don't know why. Some of it may be that the fluctuating temperatures are making sleeping harder. I'm not sure.
I'm feeling kind of useless in terms of the party preparations because I can't really do much to help Scott clean or run errands. I probably should just focus on some
metanews work instead of worrying about it. Goodness knows there's enough of that for me to deal with.
We also don't have any activities planned for the girls. They'll be here for two hours, and I have no idea what the seven of them will do. Cordelia has assured me that they'll be fine, so I guess I'll have to trust that.

Date: 2015-05-17 07:46 pm (UTC)(I am not sure I should say this, but: technically the recommendation is for kids to be thirteen to sit in the front seat. Twelve and under are supposed to sit in the back seat.)
