Really not much at all happened yesterday. It's starting to get warm again, so I turned the air conditioner and the ceiling fans on again. I still want to make brownies, but I think I may have missed the window during which it would be pleasant to do so in terms of the oven heating up the house.
I did realize, around noon, that I'd put potatoes in to bake Monday evening and then, because I was in the middle of something, turned off the oven and left them in there when they were done. I think they're likely still edible, but I'm annoyed with myself over it. If I'm going to 'bake' potatoes any time before October, I'll pretty much have to do it in the microwave which requires a lot of up and down (doing one potato at a time at ten minutes each for three potatoes).
I ended up sleeping in a bit this morning because, between the time Scott got up and when Cordelia left, I didn't sleep at all. Scott's got a terrible cough that won't stop, and that kept me awake while he was in the house. I wish I could get him to go to the doctor for it, but I really don't know when he could go. He doesn't have any sick time left (he gets two days every six months), and the clinic we go to closes at 4:30 and doesn't take walk ins any more.
Once Scott left, there wasn't much time before Cordelia's alarm went off. She was using her watch alarm, but she's lost her watch (which was falling apart anyway), and the replacement Scott ordered online hasn't arrived yet. Basically, although her old watch still more or less works, the band has come off in such a way that it can't be reattached, and pieces of the facing have come off that we can't put back without risking destroying the watch. At any rate, when Cordelia uses the watch alarm, I can sleep right through it. When she uses her alarm clock, I absolutely can't.
I'm thinking about stopping reading the interlibrary loan book I've been working on. I'm more than halfway through it, so sticking with it is tempting, but... It's an anthropological study from some time in the 1980s or 1990s (I think 1980s, but I can't remember for sure), and I feel like I'm intruding into people's lives to gawk and really don't have the context to learn much from doing that even if I could get past feeling wrong to start with. I guess it's a good thing I never did much with anthropology.
I was going to make brownies today, but I seem to have frittered away the morning, and the cleaning lady comes in half an hour which means I won't have access to the kitchen for about an hour after she arrives. Maybe I'll do it while she cleans the bathroom. Right now, I'm working on posting
metanews. At least this week's post is short enough that it shouldn't need to be split on LJ. That's something.
