I'm currently dithering about signing up for Remix. I want to, but I also wanted some down time between Weiss Day and Remix. I'm not sure I'm ready for another project so quickly. I also have the standard Remix terror of matching with somebody who writes stuff that I can't. I'm very much a gen writer at the moment. I can manage non-explicit pairings if I have to, but anything beyond a fade to black is beyond me right now. What if I match with somebody who writes only romances or only explicit romances?

I'm also debating what fandoms to offer, if I do sign up. Most of the eligible fandoms are things I know I can't write. Some are things I could maybe write if I got lucky on matching. I'm trying to narrow it down to things I'm sure I can write even if I match with someone whose stories are alien territory for me. Right now, I've got six fandoms on the list. I can offer five, so one has to go. Two of the six are things I'm a little iffy about. If I sign up, I may ditch both of them and just offer four fandoms.

Remix is nice because I can offer fandoms that I wouldn't try to write on my own. That is, there are fandoms where the canon is too big for me to feel like I know it securely or where it's been a while since I saw/read the canon and details escape me. With Remix, I'm working from someone else's story and can, to some extent, rely on their knowledge of canon. Of course, both previous times I've done Remix, I've matched with a drabble writer. There's a lot of room to go wrong with canon details in expanding a 100 word fic into an over 1000 word fic.

At any rate, I'm going to try to make up my mind today. The window for signing up is relatively small. Sign ups close on the 19th.
