It rained heavily during parts of yesterday which cooled things off quite a bit. Fortunately, it didn't rain during the Ice Cream Social. Most of that is outside, and a good bit of it (like the bounce houses and the pony rides) wouldn't fit inside if the weather was bad. I don't know what they would have done if it started pouring in the middle of things.
Cordelia and her friends had $30.50 between them. $20 from me and $10.50 from the other children's parents. Cordelia and her friend both ended up with tickets to spare because they're too old to be interested in 90% of what goes on at the Ice Cream Social. Cordelia gave her tickets away when she realized that, and her friend waited and used them to buy five or so servings of ice cream, one for each of the kids and two for her parents.
The other kids' father came and got them, so Scott didn't have to drive them home. He was willing to, but he hadn't had time to shower yet, so he was just as happy to be able to go straight to doing that.
I suspect I've finally caught Scott's cold. I've had a sore throat since last night, and that's how things started for Cordelia. I was really, really hoping that I'd avoided this one. Judging by Scott and Cordelia, I will have about two weeks of feeling rotten. Hopefully, I don't start coughing the way Scott has. I haven't done that in the ten years or so since I started taking Singulair. My asthma means that, once I start coughing, I have months of asthmatic bronchitis and probably a trip or two to the ER.
I poked at my Remix story yesterday and concluded that I don't really know how to start the one I was thinking to do. I have a vague shape for it, but it's very vague. I would have to come up with a lot of details not in the original story (which is 200-300 words long). I do have an idea for the first few sentences of one of the others, so I'm going to try that. I'm probably going to carry on past where the original story ends. I think I'll need to in order to get the length I need as the original story isn't even 1000 words. That pretty much guarantees I'm going to have to write some sex which means, in turn, that I have to make some decisions about what sort of sex the characters would have.
The forms I have to fill out every year regarding Cordelia's Social Security money have arrived. Now I wish I'd been diligent about updating her financial records all year. I'm using a new program that I don't entirely understand, so I've been putting things off for months. I don't even know where her most recent bank statement is. That is a problem. I am a little surprised that the form has come so late. Most years, it comes in May because that's when Cordelia's birthday is.
I need to make a grocery list now. I have to remember to include some things Cordelia can take in a sack lunch for her Wednesday field trip (they'll be buying pizza for dinner. I've already sent in the money for that). I also have to get more mac 'n' cheese because, on Friday, I'll be feeding lunch to the kids that Cordelia went to the Ice Cream Social with last night. Mac 'n' cheese isn't very exciting, but all three kids like it and will eat it.
Both books I ordered for Cordelia from the school's book fair have arrived. For some reason, they shipped them separately, so they arrived on different days. I could have had the books delivered to the school, but that would have meant waiting until next week (the sale ends today. All the books going to the school will be shipped next week), and I was worried that the books wouldn't arrive in a timely manner. Next week is going to be fairly chaotic at the school, what with it being the last week of the school year.
