Apparently my cousin got Grandma's phone number wrong. Both of my sisters have tried to call and have been unable to get through. My cousin texted us last night to say he'd get us the correct number soon. Unfortunately, he and my sister, when she responded, used a texting format that my ancient phone can't read. My phone has also spontaneously turned itself off twice in the last three days. I may have to surrender and get a new one. Unfortunately, that pretty much means accepting a touch screen which I really, really don't want to do.

It was sunny yesterday morning, so there was more swimming. A couple of people browbeat me into going out and sitting by the pool. That wasn't very interesting, though, as I'm not big on watching other people swim. I suppose I was useful a couple of times, helping Cordelia with her goggles, but I suspect someone else could have done that just as well. Both of Scott's parents stayed out of the pool and watched.

Right around noon, it started sprinkling. That wasn't enough to pull people out of the pool, not until we heard thunder. People cleared the pool pretty rapidly then.

It rained off and on all afternoon and evening. We made a family expedition into town for ice cream about 3:00, and then all trooped around the corner to a grocery store. I probably shouldn't have gone into the store because it involved a lot of walking, but I didn't want to sit on a bench, alone, outside with nothing to do for half an hour. And going in did let me pick out a can of soup to have for lunch today while everybody else is gone.

Of course, we forgot three important things, so Scott had to go back later for bread, bananas, and black tea.

Our nephew has been trying to get his uncles to play Axis and Allies with him. He desperately, desperately wants to play. Scott's willing because he thinks our nephew deserves something for behaving so well on the vacation and because Scott doesn't like how our nephew's father treats him. Scott's brother has been considerably more reluctant, and Scott is pretty sure it's because of how much time the game will take and because of how few people in the family have any interest. Scott thinks he's worked out a compromise-- They'll just play a couple of turns instead of a full game. I hope that works out.

The crowd going to Cedar Point left around 9:30 this morning. Scott's sister was aiming for 9:00, but I think she knew that they'd end up leaving later than whatever time they planned on. Scott has volunteered to watch the almost four year old while everyone else goes on the rides she's not big enough for (Scott dislikes roller coasters. He will ride them with Cordelia if it's required, but he doesn't enjoy it). He's hoping there will be enough going on to keep her interested, but it might get difficult when her father and older sister go off to wait in line for something. She doesn't know Scott very well at all.

Scott's parents and our sister-in-law left for a national park about 10:40. I have no idea what all kept them here that long. They have a long drive ahead as it's about two hours to get there.

It's only supposed to get up to 71F today, so it's not a bad day for a trip to an amusement park. They're more likely to end up chilly than with heatstroke. Of course, if it stays this cold, tomorrow's excursion to a water park won't be much fun.

I'm going to spend the afternoon link finding since I didn't manage to do any yesterday. I think it will work reasonably well. I can even play music while I work which will be nice.

Griffin is at Cedar Point today as well. Maybe he will run in to Cordelia!

As for touchscreen phones, I have one and I resisted for a long time, since touchscreens and I do not play well together. I tend to have issues with having them recognize/act on my touch. What helped was, first, a stylus for interacting, and now, this lovely thick shield made of tempered glass that seems to conduct my touch more reliably. You may want to see if that helps at all.
