Jul. 21st, 2015 12:55 pmToday started with a phone call from the University of Michigan Health System that told me that Medicare has been refusing payment on my medical bills because UM has been billing them as secondary insurance when Medicare thinks they should be billed a primary. Scott's insurance has always, always been primary, and only two or three months ago, I filled out a form telling Medicare that, yes, I have other insurance, and yes, it ought to be primary.
At any rate, I ended up spending about twenty minutes on the phone with Medicare, getting that straightened out. Their phone tree is awful, and I don't know why they want people to say their social security number out loud instead of by pushing buttons on the phone. Keypad input for that seems like a no brainer.
We were a little late getting out the door for my dental appointment. I got there a minute or two after my appointment was due to start and still had to fill out paperwork. Fortunately, my hygienist was running late, so I had about ten minutes to get everything taken care of. My teeth are fine, not even a lot of tartar build up. They gave me a new case for my bite splint (the old one broke last night and had been persistently growing pink slime in spite of frequent washings, so it was time). They also gave me some samples of sugar free gum and hard candies that don't have the sweeteners that cause me problems. I'll try those and see about ordering more later if they're helpful.
Our mail arrived around 10 this morning which was nice. I was really worried that it would come while we were out. There wasn't anything dreadfully exciting, but there was enough of it that it definitely wouldn't have fit in the mailbox.
Scott's father has been working in our yard for the last several hours. I'm not sure what all he's done. He and Scott and Cordelia are eating sandwiches out on the front lawn right now. I'd be welcome to join them, but we only have three chairs, and I wanted to get this posted before we head out for Cordelia's appointment.
