Jul. 25th, 2015 05:23 pmScott's been buying Zevia, a sugar free soda sweetened with stevia and erythritol. His parents introduced him to it. I've tried every flavor he's bought and haven't had any ill effects, and I'm not sure what I think. Well, the cream soda was just plain nasty. The cherry cola is not awful; I would probably drink that again voluntarily. The ginger root beer and lemon lime twist flavors, I'm not sure about. They're all overly sweet, and all have the aftertaste that I associate with stevia.
While we were on vacation, Scott's parents had a bunch of packets of powder for flavoring water, all sorts of different flavors. I didn't note the brand, but it was sweetened with a combination of stevia and cane sugar. I tried one; I think the flavor was supposed to be mango blackberry (which seems like a strange combination and is one that I can't find anywhere via Google but is what I remember). I couldn't taste anything but overwhelming sweetness that was kind of nasty. I was even mixing it into more water than they recommended, so it would have been stronger if I'd followed the directions.
