I woke about 8:00 yesterday morning. I'd set my alarm for 9:00, but I knew that, even if I got back to sleep, it wouldn't be helpful. I'd just end up startled awake from sleep which is unpleasant. I washed and got dressed about 9:30. The whole no deodorant thing is much less pleasant in the summer than in the winter.

I got the dishwasher running, put away some library books, and moved all of the laundry baskets so that they'd be out of the way when the cleaning lady came. I intended to sort through some papers, too, but I never got to that.

Scott's sister and her daughter arrived a little after 11:00. My niece had just had her braces tightened, so we let her pick where to eat. We ended up at Panera. I managed to drip French onion soup down my front in spite of holding a napkin there to prevent it. We came back here about 12:30, and I changed my shirt. Then my SIL and I headed for my appointment while the girls put in Big Hero 6.

The nurse confused me considerably by insisting that my record says that I have 'active varicella.' I mean, I've had chicken pox, but that was 31 years ago, and I haven't had any symptoms since, so 'active' seems like a really weird word for it. I know that everyone who's ever had chicken pox still has the virus lurking somewhere inside, but the nurse seemed to think it was more like I had herpes and was having constant outbreaks of sores which-- not in the least.

I also have to call our bank to find out how to reach the folks who printed our checks. Half of the checks in the current batch are bad, with the account number only partly printed. For some of those, a human could still read them, but a scanner can't. For others, entire numbers disappear.

I wasn't able to put a new ice pack on my breast until after 5:00 which was longer than I was supposed to go. Basically, the cleaning lady stayed and stayed, and I didn't think I could take off my shirt and part of my bra while she was in the next room (I can't get at either the bathroom or our bedroom until after she goes).

Scott made salads last night. Usually, we all make our own, but he made mine. Of course, he put things on it that I never would (shredded cheese and dried cranberries) and omitted at least one thing I would have put on (chicken). He didn't ask me what I wanted, either. The lack of chicken surprises me considerably. I know he cut some up for the salads. I have no clue why he didn't put any on mine.

I expected not to be able to sleep on my left side last night, but it turned out not to hurt to do that. I'm very glad because I was having hints of reflux trouble (I really don't know why), and lying on my left side seems to help that more than anything else I've tried.

I woke up with a serious crick in my neck. I've been up for two hours now, and it still hurts a lot when I move certain ways. And Scott won't be home to rub it until 7:30 or 8:00 this evening. Ah, well.

I'm not entirely sure I should have made my coffee this morning given the weight of the kettle, but I lifted it only with my right hand, and I don't think it's even as heavy as a gallon of milk. Waiting for Cordelia to wake up would have been a real challenge-- She's not likely to be up until 11:00 or so, and I wanted coffee at 8:00. I probably should have used the microwave to heat water. I just don't like to.

I've dealt with Cordelia's pediatrician's office. They're referring the password problem to the people who run the website, and I will be able to pick up a copy of Cordelia's immunization record when we're there next Friday (the same reception desk services the pediatrician's office and the dermatology office, so we'll be right there). They offered to mail it to me, but I don't see the point of that.

Did you order the checks through the bank? When I worked at the bank, if someone got checks with any sort of misprint/poor quality, it was just a button click to get them re-ordered for free.
