Last weekend we had two soccer games. The weather was good for both. I don't recall the score of the first game or whether Delia's team won or lost, but the game on Sunday was technically a win. It should have been a tie, but the referee made a bad call when the ball passed between the post and the edge of the net and went out.

Mother's Day was very laid back. That happens when Scott's parents are out of town. When they're home, there's always a family gathering on Mother's Day.

Scott did his best to let me sleep in, but Delia was really eager to give me the gifts she'd made at school and at Brownies. She looked in a few minutes after nine (nine being the time when she normally gets us out of bed. She actually wakes earlier than that, but she reads until nine) and saw that my eyes were open. She gave me a clay bell, a pin that's a flower made from layers of fabric and a button, and a banner saying, 'Happy Mother's Day.' She'd already given me another gift she'd made in school (she couldn't bear to wait), a ruler with a decorated piece of paper inserted in the middle. She's embarrassed by the illustrations she put on it because they're not as good as she wanted them to be. One one side of the ruler, she wrote, 'I love you! Happy Mother's Day! You're the best! May 6, 2011.'

After I got up, I did nothing very much until after three, when it was time to get ready for the soccer game. Scott thought about taking us out for lunch, but he went out to run some errands, and by the time he got back, I had fed Delia and had nearly finished microwaving a frozen meal for myself. If he'd told me beforehand, I'd have waited. I suspect that the idea occurred to him while he was out.

After the game, we went out for dinner at Asia City. It's a Chinese buffet. It was a little bit of a compromise between what I wanted and what Delia would eat, but it worked out.
