I think Cordelia is having an allergic reaction to the clindamyacin cream she's using on her back. I'm not sure, however, because I don't know what her back looked like before she started using it. Before last night, she hadn't let me see her back in a year or two (she likes to wear a shirt over her swimsuit). Even when we saw the dermatologist, she wouldn't take off her shirt, the doctor had to pull her t-shirt at the neck and look down.

At any rate, Cordelia was worried that she would go through this batch of clindamyacin too quickly and end up with another gap when she didn't have any. I suggested that I could apply it and maybe use less because I could see what I was doing. She decided we could try that.

Her back is solid rash from the top of her shoulders down to where her bra starts. There are some pimples, but mostly, it's rash. Cordelia says she doesn't remember what her back was like before she started the clindamyacin in August, so she's no help. She did say that using it makes her back itch but that not using it, once she'd started, was infinitely worse. We had about ten days without any clindamyacin because Cordelia used up what was supposed to last her a month in about ten days and the insurance refused to pay for the new, larger volume prescription the dermatologist sent in.

Scott thinks the rash might just be bad acne. I don't know. I have more experience with allergic reactions than with acne. He had bad acne as an adolescent, so he might know. I emailed the dermatologist's office through the patient portal, and they're usually good about getting back to us promptly. I'm thinking that maybe we don't want to wait until October 30th to see the dermatologist again.

Not waiting may also be wise because the 30th will be week two or week three of my radiation treatment. I have no idea how I'll be doing then or if I'll be up to dealing with taking Cordelia to the doctor. The timing means I'll have to walk to the school, pick her up, walk with her back home, and then call a cab because the cab wouldn't be able to get into the school lot if it took more than about ten minutes to arrive. The walk to and from school isn't a long one, so maybe it won't be a problem. I just have no idea.

I'm also thinking to reschedule Cordelia's November dental appointment. That will fall during week five or six. I'm not entirely sure when to reschedule it to because I have no idea how the radiation treatment will affect me or for how long. Cordelia would love for me to try to get her in during winter break, but I don't know if the dentist will be open (or have openings then). January might be safer.

I should probably call about rescheduling now and stop putting it off, but I'm fairly sure that, the moment I do that, the dermatologist's office will call. That just seems inevitable.

I watched a lot of episodes of Good Eats yesterday. That was nice and soothing. Cordelia wasn't pleased when she got home because cooking shows make her hungry (she likes watching some of them anyway). The particular episode that was on right then was talking about cinnamon rolls, and they did look really good. I've still got a couple of seasons of The Magic School Bus to watch before I run out, but I thought I'd try something else for a while.

I love the Food Network (and Alton Brown's Good Eats especially). The show's wacky, but fun, and his voice is surprisingly soothing at times. :D

Glad that you were able to get things rescheduled!
