The dermatologist ruled the rash on Cordelia's back dermatitis and said we're to stop the clindamyacin and never go back to it but that she wasn't 100% certain that the clindamyacin was at fault. It's interesting. Most other doctors I've dealt with have been very eager to label things as antibiotic allergies simply because such things are dangerous and it may well be better to err on the side of caution. At any rate, we have a prescription steroidal cream to put on Cordelia's back twice a day for two weeks.

Cordelia was angry at me for scheduling a doctor's appointment without having warned her that it might happen. She was also upset to be missing school because the teacher was reading them an essay about bees and pesticides and colony collapse syndrome that they were to use as the basis for an essay or something. She didn't see any way she could do the assignment without being there for hear the essay. I suggested googling, and she said that was against the rules of the assignment.

It took about 45 minutes for the cab that took us to the doctor to come. The driver called me before he was even within sight of our house, demanding to know where we were and why we weren't standing outside, waiting for him. He also didn't know where Domino Farms is and needed his GPS to tell him. We got caught for about five minutes on the street by Cordelia's school because there was a constant stream of kids and parents crossing in front of us. The driver actually suggested trying to turn around, but there's no good way to do that there.

We only waited for 20-30 minutes for the cab home. Cordelia spent a lot of the time, however, complaining that she was hungry. I'm not sure why she didn't grab something to eat during the 45 minutes while we waited for the first cab or why I didn't think to make her do that.

Scott had to work until 7:00 last night. He said that he had to fill in for the one guy on his shift who's got more family health problems than we do-- The other guy's wife has a staph infection in her sternum, internal and external.

I tried to email the members of our gaming group from the doctor's office. My phone claimed it had a wireless connection, but I couldn't actually do anything with it-- No email, no Feedly, nothing. I ended up texting [livejournal.com profile] booniverse and asking her to let everybody else know. I said that it was fine for everyone to come over anyway (I really, really wanted to see someone other than Scott and Cordelia) as the plan was for [livejournal.com profile] booniverse to talk about the game she wants to run.

Most of the talk during the evening gathering was about which game system to use. [livejournal.com profile] booniverse plans to run a Stargate game. She was considering the d20 system in which the game based on Stargate: SG-1 is written and a variant of Ars Magica with the magic stripped out. Her husband thought that Ars would be too much work since none of the stuff specific to the Stargate setting has been written up for Ars. The rest of us were fairly wishy-washy. We're not big on the rigid character classes in d20, and Ars would be more flexible, but the point about the d20 version already being set up was a good one. Also, all of us have some recent experience with d20. I think we settled on d20 with some talk about maybe tweaking the class system to make it more flexible.

[livejournal.com profile] booniverse brought cake. We all had some, and she left three pieces with us for later. I think either Scott or Cordelia has already eaten there piece because it looked to me like there were only two pieces left on the plate when I was nearby earlier.

Kroger has stopped carrying two things that we buy routinely. I think we can find other brands for the unsweetened applesauce cups (and can just buy the bottled stuff if it comes to that). My instant coffee is more of a big deal. I have been drinking Kroger brand French vanilla instant coffee for a few years now, and suddenly, it's gone. Scott says there's not even a space on the shelf for it any more. He got me a different brand of instant French vanilla, and I tried it for the first time today. It doesn't taste the same. I have no idea if it has an equivalent amount of caffeine, either. My impression is that instant coffees vary wildly in terms of caffeine content. I'm trying to decide how much I want to experiment in hopes of finding something I like. Our method of grocery shopping isn't really amenable to a lot of experimentation. And I'm not sure I dislike the taste of the new stuff; it might just be that it's not what I'm used to.
