I just got word from my mother-- They spent about seven hours at the doctor's today, having various tests done, and the current assessment is that the tumor in my step-father's eye is not malignant. If it keeps growing, they'll still have to remove it, but the situation is now a lot less worrying.

That must be a big relief. Benign tumors can sometimes be tough to deal with, but still ... not cancer!
