I'm having some minor side effects from the antibiotic, mostly just nausea. That is apparently a common side effect. I'm just boggled by one of the other common side effects I found listed on an nih.gov subwebsite: anorexia. Nobody's supposed to take this stuff for longer than fourteen days (I'll be taking it for seven). That seems awfully fast to develop an eating disorder. I could see 'loss of appetite' or 'inability to eat' or something similar. I thought that anorexia needed a longer duration for diagnosis. Does this stuff cause a change that lasts beyond the last dose?

Anorexa nervosa is the eating disorder. Anorexia is simply the medical term for the symptom of not eating. A lot of meds have it as a side effect, actually, and a lot of illnesses have it as a symptom.

(I note that I had exactly the same reaction the first time I saw it in a list of symptoms.)

I think "anorexia" is a medical term for loss of appetite, and "anorexia nervosa" is the name for the eating disorder.
