Oct. 22nd, 2015 04:12 pmRadiation went pretty quickly. My appointment with the radiologist after also went pretty fast. She’s concerned about the level of redness and swelling I have (both are normal) this early in the treatment. She suggested that we back off a little and give me a smaller dose each time. That, however, would require extending the treatment time by several weeks so that I might not be done by Christmas. The current schedule has me finishing with enough time to recover and probably be myself at the Christmas celebration and when visiting with my parents (if, as they say they’re going to, they come to Michigan). That’s fairly important to me. Scott thinks we’d manage somehow. I don’t know. It would also mean needing to ask people to keep helping me for even longer than I already am.
I have an appointment with a nutritionist at the Cancer Center on the 28th. That’s next Wednesday. I think I’ll probably pack a lunch and take a cab up there because the appointment is at 11:00, and radiation is at 12:50. There’s no time for me to go home and eat, not unless someone gives me a ride, and I don’t know about trying to manage that.
I’ve only got one ride lined up for next week, and that’s on Thursday (Scott’s sister has signed up for one day a week all the way through to the end). That worries me. I don’t want to nag people, but I think that, if I don’t ask, no one will offer. People get caught up in their own lives (as they should).
While I was at my appointment today, Scott bought more tape and mailed my package. We ended up dropping off the books at the school on our way back from the appointment. Scott hadn’t been paying attention to the time and was afraid it would be too near to the final bell, but we had a solid fifty minutes before that would go off, so we were able to park in the school lot. I carried in a bag that was only about a third full while Scott carried two moderate sized boxes. The librarian wasn’t in today, but the woman from the office let us into the librarian’s office so that we could leave the books there. Because she was with us, we didn’t have to sign in and out which I’m just as happy about.

Date: 2015-10-23 03:32 pm (UTC)Cindy said on Sunday that she'd set the thing up so that I can edit it and invite people to join, but she hasn't gotten around to it yet. I probably should remind her.
I don't want anyone to have to do more than a day or, at most, two a week, but I also don't know how else I'm going to get home after my appointments. Waiting for a cab to go there, I can wait inside the house with the front door open and the screen door closed and be warm enough. On the way home, it's not so easy.
I need to be at the Cancer Center at about 10:50 on Wednesday. I'm assuming the appointment won't run past 11:30 unless it starts late. They've generally been good about being on time, but... Who knows?
Radiation is at 12:50 (I need to be there at about 12:40 so I can change). I can get to the Cancer Center myself, by cab, if it would be more convenient for you just to pick me up after radiation.
