Nov. 16th, 2015 04:24 pmI have a prescription for an antibiotic ointment, Silvadene, which we will hope I’m not allergic to. I haven’t ever reacted to a sulfa drug, so I’m hoping my luck holds. I’m also supposed to use a soak of some stuff called Domeboro (or the store brand equivalent if that’s cheaper and/or easier to find. That second thing is going to require that I go through about four clean washcloths a day, so I foresee a lot of small loads of laundry in my immediate future.
The friend who took me to my appointment today was substituting for his wife who wasn’t feeling well and was using his lunch hour. I didn’t feel like I could reasonably ask him to take an extra forty minutes to take me to pick up the meds, but I’ve been eager to have them all afternoon. I’ve been hoping desperately that they’ll actually help.
Scott is only just now getting out of work. It’s only a little more than an hour after when he should have, and normally, that wouldn’t feel like such a big deal, but I’m in pain, and I very much want to try this stuff to see what it can do. I’d probably have tried sending Cordelia for it, but I have no cash, and I’m not convinced they’d let her use a blank check to pay or that they’d let her pick up a prescription at all. I’m also not completely sure the Kroger pharmacy will have the Domeboro. That may require a trip to an actual drug store.
At any rate, I’m supposed to try to keep things clean and dry and well aired at the same time I try to keep my breast from moving in any way that will pull on the damaged skin. I also have to refrain from using any of this stuff within four hours before my radiation appointments (I have to wash the skin where the Silvadene has been), so I think I’m going to be getting up a lot earlier than I want to for a while.
Well… At least, this didn’t happen until I was almost done?
Five more sessions to go.
