Somehow, I ended up with nine library CDs this week. I generally aim for six because that’s about what I have patience for over the course of a week. At least I only have one DVD, and it’s something I’ve seen before that I thought would be relaxing to rewatch.
Scott ended up bringing home a book from the hold shelf that isn’t mine. They label books with last name and first initial, and there’s someone else with the same last name and first initial as mine who also does holds downtown. The only thing the staff have been able to do to distinguish my holds from this other person’s is to put my name in all caps. Scott didn’t notice that this label wasn’t all caps, and he’s not willing to look at the check out screen as he does self check out, so he didn’t see that the system refused to check the book in question out to my card (I suspect there was a largish warning about that on the screen, but it would have vanished as soon as he scanned the next item). His refusal to look at the screen is why he frequently misses holds I have that have just come in and my interlibrary loan books. The screen says that those things are in, but he’s not willing to take two seconds to check for that.
At any rate, Scott will have to take the book back today. I just hope that the other person doesn’t come in to pick it up while we have it. From the point of view of the library, the book has been stolen. I’m going to insist that Scott actually go to the front desk and explain what happened— The other person ought to have their hold time extended. I’d also love for the library to figure out a better way to distinguish our holds from each other.
Cordelia’s friend’s mother has asked if her kids can come over here after school on Thursday to get ready for the concert. I’m going to say yes, but I kind of worry about it. That will double the length of time that I will need to wear a shirt that day, from about three hours to about six hours.
I have to time today to fill out a questionnaire for my Friday appointment with the medical oncologist. I’m not enthusiastic about doing that because everything they’re asking for is already in their database and because it’s effectively the same form I filled out for surgical oncology and then, again, for radiation oncology. The wording is different in places, but…
We only have one dinner lined up for this week. We have some soup left from last week, but I don’t think that will do more than a meal for all three of us. I’m less tired than I was, so maybe I can cook. I don’t know. Anything that brushes my breast and anything that involves bending over even a bit hurts. Right now, I need to charge my cell phone, but the charging cord is on the floor, and I’m trying to convince myself that it won’t be all that bad.

Date: 2015-12-02 12:06 am (UTC)It really is my hope that I'll be able to cook next week. I can, if I'm very careful, empty and load the dishwasher now, so I'm doing a lot better.
