I slept poorly last night. The itching of my healing burns was terrible, so bad as to be painful. I looked up burn care online this morning, and I’m doing most of the right things for post-burn itching. I emailed the radiation oncology nurses anyway. It didn’t seem big enough to be worth bothering the on-call resident over the weekend. At this point, I’m fairly worried about my ability to go to our usual Christmas gatherings. I don’t itch very much if there’s nothing touching my breast, but I can’t very well go to the gathering topless.

I ended up ordering groceries online last night. Our usual store doesn’t do that, as far as I can tell, but there’s another one not too far away that does. Their selection isn’t as good, and their database is pretty terrible. My tinned coffee mix, for example, comes up under 'coffee' but not under 'instant coffee.' I had to look under 'butter' in order to find margarine. The laundry detergent I wanted wasn’t listed under 'laundry detergent' when I looked there but was listed under the brand name, and 'unscented laundry detergent' returned no results at all. I’m sure they carry powdered cow’s milk, but searching 'powdered milk' only brought up powdered goat’s milk, and I couldn’t find it when I only searched 'milk.' For produce, everything’s by weight, so there’s no way to say that I want four bananas unless I have a good idea of about how much that would weigh. I know that they charge by weight, but it’s still a curious omission.

I’d hoped that we could get the groceries last night, but their system told me that ’some items’ in my order needed a longer lead time so that the earliest they could do was 10:00 this morning. Given that we weren’t sure how late Scott would have to work, I ended up setting pick up time as late today as I could. Scott will have to go over there at 9:00. It’s not ideal, and they didn’t have (or I couldn’t find) everything, but it’s better than Scott spending an hour or two more on his feet.

Cordelia and her friend were apparently able to use the PayPal receipts last night. I’ll have to demand my $20 back. Cordelia won’t give it to me unless I do.

I was going to try to bake today, but I was so tired from not sleeping that I kept putting it off, and now Scott’s home. I’m not sure what the rest of the day is going to look like or how we’ll fit everything in tomorrow. I don’t like this level of uncertainty, of knowing there’s a lot to do and not knowing how any of it is going to get done.

I sent a long message to my half-sister’s mother with some ideas of things Cordelia might like for Christmas. I suspect that the easiest would be a donation to water.org, but I offered some other ideas, too. Hopefully one of those will work. She always wants to give Cordelia something off the beaten path, and well, that works about as well as you’d expect given that she really doesn’t know Cordelia.

Scott’s worried that the stuff he ordered as Christmas presents hasn’t arrived yet. He has Amazon Prime, so I think he assumed he could wait. He also hasn’t started designing calendars yet. He says he’s going to, but he hasn’t got much time at all.

Scott’s work gave him a ham for Christmas. I can’t eat any for reflux related reasons, but he and Cordelia both like ham. It’s thawing in the fridge right now. Hopefully, they’ll be able to eat it in a couple of days. It’s kind of thick, though, so it’s likely to take forever to thaw.

haha my dad's sister always tries to surprise us with gifts, and it is always a terrible idea. It's like "just go off the list woman! Or do amazon gift cards!"

My aunt will buy Kevin amazon gift cards, but not me. Me she always needs to buy awful clothing that I will never wear from stores I can't find anything that fits in.
