Dec. 29th, 2015 08:47 pmScott was stuck at work late last night. Neither of us were pleased because the weather was extra nasty. It had started sleeting around 10:30 a.m. and kept going all day. Scott discovered, when he finally left work, that he’d not remembered to put an ice scraper in the car. He spent half an hour trying to melt the ice on the windshield by running the car. Then it occurred to him that his hardhat might work as a scraper.
Scott had an appointment this morning with a urologist about the kidney stone. The doctor thinks the stone has probably passed, but we can’t be sure. If Scott feels it again, he’s to make an appointment immediately.
Scott had called in in order to go to the appointment and chose to stay home the rest of the day. We all went to Bob Evans for lunch and ordered breakfast food. I’d been wanting pancakes like that for several weeks. We stopped at Target after that because Cordelia needed a hat.
Scott and I should have watched our Netflix DVDs this afternoon, but somehow or another, that didn’t happen.
Cordelia has been leaving the house for ten to fifteen minutes at a time a couple of times a day since vacation started, even yesterday while it was sleeting. I think she’s going for short walks. I like the idea that she’s getting some sort of exercise. She’s still hugging me a lot. Sometimes, when I go to bed or nap, she’ll come in two, three or even four times to hug me, and she keeps asking if I love her. She says she knows I do but that she likes to hear it.
I’m thinking I might actually try to do more reviews on GoodReads. I’m not sure I have the focus to do it more than sporadically, but I do little write ups here, so maybe I can copy some of those over, at least those that say something useful and that aren’t just navel gazing.

Date: 2015-12-31 04:19 am (UTC)I don't remember when we friended each other but Josh almost died about 3 years ago. He had an emergency appendectomy and then developed pulmonary embolisms. Emma still talks about how afraid she is of hospitals and how scared that made her. It's a really sobering thing to face the potential mortality of a parent at that age.
That being said, Cordelia sounds like she's pretty well adjusted and optimistic. That's a good thing.

Date: 2015-12-31 07:38 pm (UTC)Cordelia was more worried by me taking naps in the late afternoon than she was by my surgery. I think that, if I'd had chemo with all of its attendant difficulties, she'd probably have worried more. She very definitely didn't want to know any more about what was going on than she had to.

Date: 2015-12-31 08:36 pm (UTC)nods that makes sense especially since you seem to abandon more books than other people do.
