My mother will be here any minute. She called at 9:00 to tell us she was leaving Lawton. Scott and I had both just woken up anyway, so that was okay. Cordelia was not happy when I made her shower around 10:30, but it had been several days since she showered last, so I thought it was necessary. I still hope to shower today, but there wasn’t time for it this morning. There will probably be time after Mom leaves.
I emailed Scott a shopping list, and he did the groceries on the way home. He got confused about the prescriptions, though, and didn’t ask the question I’d told him to. Basically, Gastroenterology sent in a prescription on 16 December, and I haven’t heard anything at all from the pharmacy about it. The prescription is for the prep stuff for the colonoscopy in March, so it hasn’t been urgent enough for me to call them during the holidays, but I need to find out what’s going on and if they actually got the prescription.
I don’t understand Scott and cookies— He bought a very, very expensive box of Christmas cookies for the tree decorating gathering (seriously, I think he said they were over $20). The cookies mostly tasted like sugared cardboard. Then, yesterday, he bought the same cookies again because they were half-price. Those cookies are still a rip-off at $10+. I’m not sure I’d pay as much as $5 for them. They’re pretty. I’ll give them that. I just would rather have cookies that taste good.
I did some writing yesterday. Unfortunately, I’m not sure that the story is working. I’ve tweaked the background of the main character (okay, altered it considerably) in a way that canon doesn’t say is impossible but that would probably change the character a lot. In doing that, I seem to have lost the character’s voice entirely. The canon is first person with a very distinct voice, so losing that voice grates and makes me feel like I’m not writing that canon any more. I will probably keep going anyway just because I am, at least, writing something and I never intended to show this to anyone else, anyway.
