Wearing a bra helps the pain in my left breast, but it itches like crazy and makes my right breast hurt. I’m not sure that, on the balance, it’s better. I think that the discomfort is about the same either way, just in different places.

Cordelia had a dermatology appointment today. She didn’t want to go, but I got her to where she was resigned to going. She wanted to know why I couldn’t go without her. Naturally, Scott called two minutes before I was going to leave the house to get Cordelia. He hasn’t called all week but did today, and I couldn’t talk.

The verdict is that Cordelia’s doing better but really, really needs to shower more often. I think we may have to get her a blow dryer because her big excuse for not showering is not having time for her hair to dry before bed. Of course, blow drying takes time that she would much rather use for other things (that’s the big reason I don’t blow dry my hair. It cuts the drying time in half, but it requires the use of both of my hands for the entire hour and a half).

The doctor wants to see us again in April, but they clinic didn’t have April in their scheduling computer yet, so we don’t have a definite appointment. I need to think about the timing for the next appointment. Calling a cab at 2:30 means that we’re apt to run into end of the day traffic by the school once the cab arrives, but going later would mean dealing with end of the day traffic elsewhere. Going earlier would mean Cordelia missing a lot more school.

Scott picked us up after the appointment was over. We stopped at Plum Market and some pharmacy or another on the way home. Plum Market was because Cordelia is out of gum (we can’t find non-aspartame gum at Kroger) and because Plum Market is on the way home. The pharmacy was because Scott needed distilled water for his bi-PAP and Cordelia needed something the dermatologist recommended— some of those sticky strips for pulling out blackheads. Those have been disappointing so far. She followed the instructions, but when she tried to pull the thing off, it separated into layers rather than peeling off cleanly, so it didn’t pull out a single blackhead.

Scott’s scheduled to work Sunday but not Saturday. He was afraid that he’d end up stuck with both days, and we’re not currently planning to answer the landline this evening.

My first PT appointment is on a day when there’s no school. That’s not ideal, but they didn’t have anything else that week, and I really didn’t want to wait longer. We will probably have extra kids that day, but I think they’ll be okay for the 2-3 hours I’ll be away. The awkward part will be feeding them lunch when I need to leave at noon.

For the showers - does she need her scalp cleaned, or are the issues elsewhere? If her scalp doesn't need to be showered, perhaps a shower cap except when she needs to wash her hair?

This may be asking the obvious (apologies, if so), but would it work for Cordelia to wear a shower cap sometimes, so she doesn't have to get her hair wet every time she showers? Of course, that only works if the dermatology issues are more related to body than hair.
