What on earth do people use to stuff into the empty space in boxes they’re packing to ship now? I keep running into the lack of available newspaper. Part of one of the boxes I’m packing can be usefully filled using wadded up plastic shopping bags because the spaces in question are tiny, but I have other boxes with bigger spaces, and I really don’t think I’ve got nearly enough plastic shopping bags to fill those.

We don’t have any styrofoam peanuts around. We don’t tend to keep them unless we know we’ll be packing a box within a couple of weeks. I really hate to buy the silly things, but I’m not sure I have a choice.

Those expecting packages from me, I have boxes. I have the books in boxes. I’m just trying to figure out how to fill up the rest of the space so that the books don’t slide and bounce around. I’m hoping to avoid sending Scott out to buy something, but right now, I don’t have any other ideas.

I have a fairly infinite supply of those sort of potato-sized air bubbles from work, since we get orders from Grainer and whatnot on a near-daily basis. The guys just drape them over my toolbox at this point. ^^;; I wish I could teleport you some.

Could you do the Amazon thing and wrap all the books tightly in a bag, tape that securely, and even if they bang around, they're not getting damaged?

Our local Post Office has counters where people sort their mail, with trash bins underneath where they throw away the junk ads and catalogs and stuff. I've always found it clean and usable.

Have You got any spare boxes? Some independent sellers I've bought from on Amazon use folded pieces of boxes as packing, and it works pretty well.

I usually use wadded up old newspapers. We've never subscribed to any newspaper, but we have a pile of it that got delivered to us as free samples every Thursday for a really long time, whether we wanted it or not.

Being an old person, I still buy newspapers once or twice a month, and now I hoard the small collection of papers for packing and cleanup projects. (Newspapers, for example, excel for streak-free cleaning of car windows.)

I feel sad when I see someone from the Ann Arbor News at Busch's or Kroger's desperately trying to hawk subscriptions.
