Sep. 4th, 2011 10:20 pmI wrote this this afternoon but couldn't get enough wireless signal to post it anywhere. We're home now, and we have power again.
Scott went back to work this week on Tuesday. The week before, with him at home, had been so pleasant and easy that we were all sorry to see his vacation end. Delia was particularly sorry because it meant the end of her chances to go swimming. I can't get her to the pool at all, and Scott can't do it on days he works.
Nothing much happened for most of the week. On Friday, Delia and I took a short excursion to the church across the street from her school. They were having a rummage sale. We spent $2 and came away with two shirts and a pair of shoes for her and a stuffed bear named on the label as 'Classic Pooh.' That makes three Pooh bears in her collection. It doesn't rival her panda collection by any stretch of things, but it's still the start of a collection. The new bear has been dubbed 'Edward Bear.'
Scott worked twelve hours yesterday, 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. He did the grocery shopping on his way home. Of course, we may lose what he bought-- Our power went out about 7:30 last night, during a storm. The estimated restoration time is between 9:30 and 11:00 this evening. With luck it will be back sooner, but we're not holding our breath.
Delia freaked out over the power loss. She actually cried with fear. The dark and the storm bothered her that much. We got her to calm down and supplied her with two flashlights to keep all night (Scott and I got one each). I was able to play her bedtime CD on my laptop using battery power, so she went to sleep.
The power blipped in and out once, some time after Delia fell asleep. I was disappointed when it went out again and kept hoping that it would be back any second.
Scott and I both slept poorly. He depends on a c-pap at night, and we had no way to operate it. He says he hardly slept at all. He snored a lot, so I think he slept more than he thinks. He just doesn't feel rested because it was much interrupted sleep.
Scott went out and bought ice. We loaded up the fridge and freezer with it. Hopefully, it will make a difference. I'd hate to lose all of what he bought yesterday.
Right now, we're at Scott's parents' place. I'm using their wireless. I haven't got much of a signal and can't seem to get LJ to load, but I've looked at DW and have gotten my e-mail. I'll post this if I can. It may end up waiting until we have power at home again. Hopefully we will when we go home tonight.
