It’s so utterly beautiful outside right now that I really wish I could manage the walk to vote. It’s a perfect day for it, 64F and sunny. But I ended up so exhausted this morning that I had to lie down after being up for three hours even though I didn’t do anything. I kind of expected the phone to start ringing the moment I lay down, but it didn’t. I actually checked to make sure that the phone line was working.

I may actually ask for a non-partisan ballot so that I don’t have to think at all. I know my opinion on the millage, but I really don’t have an opinion on Clinton vs Sanders. I don’t think that the Republican primary is open to me because I’m a registered Democrat (Scott is registered as an independent, so he gets to choose). Otherwise, I might be tempted to vote in that, for anybody who isn’t Trump or Cruz. But the Republican candidates are, as a whole, appalling to me, so… I’m not sure I could stand to vote for any of them.

An extra vote for Rubio wouldn't hurt. At least saying "anyone but these two morons" - even though I suspect it'll be Trump

::nods:: I'm not even vaguely keen on Rubio, to be honest, but he's better than Trump or Cruz.

But I think my choices will be the Democratic ballot and the non-partisan ballot because I've declared a party in the past. Michigan does that.

oh - we didn't do any other elections, just the primary. So it was dem, rep, or don't show up.

Actually in Michigan you can request either ballot. I'm not sure that they even track people's party affiliations.

That does seem to be the case. I think it wasn't thirty years ago because I remember my mother telling me that she had to register as a Republican in order to vote in the local primaries (in Paw Paw, the Republican candidate always won).

It's not just you. I look at the Republican candidates, and I boggle. How is it possible that people are willing to vote for them? Unfortunately, I don't think that emigrating will be an option for us if the worst happens and Trump gets elected.

I honestly don't think he will get elected, though. There are a lot of people who loathe him. I can tell, though, that the next year will be fraught if politics come up with my husband's parents. They're convinced that Trump can protect them from-- Well, I have no idea what from, but they're scared that horrible things will happen.

It's actually very warm here for March. I won't be surprised if it gets cold again, but I also won't be surprised if it doesn't. March is always iffy around here.

If those supporting Trump and general US-people only knew what Europe is thinking about US right now... Just saying. :-P It was bad during Georg W Bush, but man... Now it's really bad.

Let's hope you are right and he won't be elected. Because that would be a horryfing thing, for sure. I wonder what it is his supporters want protection from though? He never answers plainly when he talks...

Well, judging by Scott's parents... They're afraid that the blacks (and Latinos) and the gays and the non-Christians are going to attack them and take all of their stuff. Or that the government will take all of their stuff and give it to those people. They're also afraid of interacting with people who aren't like them. I think it's because doing that might mean that those folks actually are people and not aberrations.

Scott's mother is so terrified of black people that she can't be at home alone on Halloween because black children might knock on her door, expecting candy, and... um... I have no idea.

For the last few decades, the Republican party has been encouraging white people of all classes to be terrified of just about everything. Scott's parents are retired and receiving Social Security and using Medicare, but they will vote for people who would like to get rid of those programs.
