Mar. 8th, 2016 03:25 pmIt’s so utterly beautiful outside right now that I really wish I could manage the walk to vote. It’s a perfect day for it, 64F and sunny. But I ended up so exhausted this morning that I had to lie down after being up for three hours even though I didn’t do anything. I kind of expected the phone to start ringing the moment I lay down, but it didn’t. I actually checked to make sure that the phone line was working.
I may actually ask for a non-partisan ballot so that I don’t have to think at all. I know my opinion on the millage, but I really don’t have an opinion on Clinton vs Sanders. I don’t think that the Republican primary is open to me because I’m a registered Democrat (Scott is registered as an independent, so he gets to choose). Otherwise, I might be tempted to vote in that, for anybody who isn’t Trump or Cruz. But the Republican candidates are, as a whole, appalling to me, so… I’m not sure I could stand to vote for any of them.

Date: 2016-03-09 02:57 pm (UTC)I honestly don't think he will get elected, though. There are a lot of people who loathe him. I can tell, though, that the next year will be fraught if politics come up with my husband's parents. They're convinced that Trump can protect them from-- Well, I have no idea what from, but they're scared that horrible things will happen.
It's actually very warm here for March. I won't be surprised if it gets cold again, but I also won't be surprised if it doesn't. March is always iffy around here.

Date: 2016-03-10 04:06 pm (UTC)Scott's mother is so terrified of black people that she can't be at home alone on Halloween because black children might knock on her door, expecting candy, and... um... I have no idea.
For the last few decades, the Republican party has been encouraging white people of all classes to be terrified of just about everything. Scott's parents are retired and receiving Social Security and using Medicare, but they will vote for people who would like to get rid of those programs.
