I'm in the ER with Cordelia. She dislocated her left kneecap. It popped back into place, mostly, when she straightened her leg, but it still hurts a lot.

She couldn't stand right after the injury and hasn't tried since because that would be foolish.

We're waiting to get an x-ray.

I did that once and they put me in a huge knee brace as though that was going to fix anything. Then my friend came over and bumped into my leg and I heard a snap and after that it was fixed. :)

Youngest son did that when he was 16. To this day he has to be careful not to dislocate it again.

I'm so sorry to hear about Cordelia's knee, I remember how much pain youngest son was in when he dislocated his knee.

Do you remember how many weeks/months recovery took? I mean the crutches and brace part of things mostly. Right now, she can't stand up or sit down without someone to hold her bad leg, and I worry about that at school when she goes back on Wednesday.

She does say that it hurts less today. I'm really, really hoping that goes on.

I think and don't quote me, it was a week or so off the leg. Then it was maybe 3 visits to the Orthopedic MD. His main concern was to basically drill into my son's head how to move without doing it again. (You can't have your upper body one direction and your knee in anther ) He recommended that my son wear one of those over the counter braces because they would remind him how to move.
